Adventure awaits in the Five Kingdoms - come and claim it in this start to a new series from the number-one New York Times best-selling author of the Fablehaven and Beyonders series.
Cole Randolph was just trying to have a fun time with his friends on Halloween (and maybe get to know Jenna Hunt a little better). But when a spooky haunted house turns out to be a portal to something much creepier, Cole finds himself on an adventure on a whole different level.
After Cole sees his friends whisked away to some mysterious place underneath the haunted house, he dives in after them - and ends up in The Outskirts.
The Outskirts are made up of five kingdoms that lie between wakefulness and dreaming, reality and imagination, life and death. It’s an in-between place. Some people are born there. Some find their way there from our world, or from other worlds.
And once you come to the Outskirts, it’s very hard to leave.
With the magic of the Outskirts starting to unravel, it’s up to Cole and an unusual girl named Mira to rescue his friends, set things right in the Outskirts, and hopefully find his way back home…before his existence is forgotten.

My son, 10, and I both enjoyed this book. It seemed a little too scary early on (not good for younger kids), but very fun and interesting throughout. The action is fast enough to hold his attention, and creative enough to hold mine. We really liked it & are disappointed not to have the whole series available on Audible.
just want to read
fascinating story from a skillful author. this trade 2 is one of the best I have listened to, 1,000 times better than the reader for Fablehaven (no offense intended)
Recently found a love for books and with Audible I can clean and keep going - I also use it in my classroom to urge kids to read.
Read this for my class and found it get better and better with each chapter. The more involved it got, more I couldn't stop. Can't wait for Book Two.
I would definitely recommend this book for a friend. I already have! This book was very interesting and always had my attention. I even stayed up past midnight listening to this book. I loved the way the narrator did the voices, and when I had forgot the names of someone who was talking, the voice helped distinguish it.
I would compare the book Fablehaven, also by Brandon Mull, to Sky Raider because, like Sky Raiders, they both kept me listening for hours at a time. It was also very well told and I always knew what was going on and was never confused. I love the story of all of Brandon Mull's books, and their points of view.
Like I said, Keith Nobb's voices helped me distinguish character, create mood, and even better help deliver the story.
I definitely wanted to listen to all of this in one sitting! The only thing that stopped me was sleep. I listened to it till my eyes felt to heavy to hold open, then I closed my eyes. After, I still listened till I started to doze off. I listened to it in the morning as well as throughout my day even as I got ready for bed. I finished the book from 8:00pm on a Wednesday to 9:00pm on a Thursday. This book easily catches my attention.
My husband and I use audio books so we can read the same book at the same time. This way we can discuss and have fun listening together.
A great read
The story of friendship
pure enjoyment. Can't wait for number 2 to come out.
Yes. Great story. Very well written and professional reader did a good job.
It compares to like Harry Potter or the Narnia series.
I am a person that tries and get through 1 book a week if possible. I am Dyslexic so this is really the only way I can get through a book. I have listened to more book in a year than I read my first 20 years of my life. I found the joy of audio books in the early 2000 and have been a audible customer since 2000 or 2001. I have over 490 books in 2 different accounts and listened to 90%.
I thought it was a great book for kids
Where he never give up on helping his friends
No, but i will now
I truly thought Skyraider's would be like the beyond yours. But after five minutes of reading it was completely different. I enjoyed all the twists and turns, and I'm excited for the next book.
The first time they enter the sky castle.
Keith did a flawless job he was able to project a different voices and it was like watching a movie.
Sky Raiders, is not for the faint of heart.
I liked the fact that Cole was so unselfish that he risked his life again and again for his friends; first his friends from Earth and then his new friends from this new land, The 5 Kingdoms. I also liked how their friendship grew through the story and the combination of fantasy and adventure to develop the story. The idea of the power of shapers is just amazing and excites every reader's imagination.
When they were fighting Carnag, although the Scorpipede was also cool.
Brady's Wilderness scenes were my favorites.
When Cole saved Mira from the Cyclops, when all friends faced the Legionnaires at Skyport to save Mira, and when Mira hugged Cole in the last chapter thanking him for his help and bravery while fighting Carnag.
Me and my mom really like the Narrator's voices impersonations.
