Jacob (1785-1863) and Wilhelm Grimm (1786-1859) were German brothers who dedicated their lives to collecting their native folk tales and popularizing them as stories for children. The Brothers Grimm were born into a large prosperous family and had a happy childhood living in the country. The brothers were brilliant students and became fascinated by research and literary history. During their academic careers, the brothers researched, wrote, and published several books of tales. The popularity of the work of the Brothers Grimm is timeless, the charm of their stories transcend centuries and cultures.
