Publisher's summary

The renegade outlaw group known as the Outsiders may have been chased from Clonmel, but not before killing Halt's only brother. Now Rangers Halt and Will, along with the young warrior Horace, are in pursuit. The Outsiders have done an effective job of dividing the kingdom into factions and are looking to overtake Araluen. It will take every bit of skill and cunning for the Rangers to survive. Some may not be so lucky.

Good as ever

What did you love best about Ranger's Apprentice, Book 9: Halt's Peril?

I've always loved the Ranger's Apprentice series, and this book was no exception. I laughed out loud, and shed some tears. It was a very enjoyable experience.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I did want to listen to it all at once, so it was hard for me to turn it off when I had to go to work.

If you like knights, rangers and adventure

If you like knights, rangers and adventure this book is for you. Sword fights, archery and chasing villians across the country side, it is all here.

I love the character dynamics in this book and the whole series. The relationship between Will, Halt's apprentice and Halt and Will's best friend Horace a knight, is something that I enjoy reading about again and again.

It is great fun following their adventures from country to country in a world that is very like our own in medevil times.

So I would suggest skipping this book

I love the rest of the series well I like it a lot it's a youth series so it's a bit of a sledgehammer lead on all of the details and a lot of repeating so that people catch it if they're not paying attention . All of that taken into account to account. Most of this book is an 8 hour description of several people creeping through the woods.. There's virtually no plot. Basically basically 2 Rangers go after to Italian assassins in the woods. Somebody gets injured and then they creep around and race for time creeping. Trying to keep somebody alive blah blah blah law. Definitely taking a break from the series. I feel that this book was a lot of words signifying nothing. I guess they can't all be winners and remember I say that falls with the preface that I read all the previous books and have enjoyed them for what they are

Yet another great story in this series

The whole story was great, it kept me wondering what would happen next. I especially liked the journey of the two girls and how their interactions with each other. I also enjoyed how Horace was more of a main character in this one. Well done!

Skip this one

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Someone who doesn't like too much action in their stories.

What do you think your next listen will be?

I've really enjoyed the Rangers Apprentice series so far but I need a break after this one.

Which scene was your favorite?

The book ends on a high note and the final battle reminds me why I've enjoyed this series so far.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

I am glad the series will continue but this entire book a good editor would have condensed this entire book into a few chapters and made it part of another book.

Any additional comments?

The inside jokes are rolling

Another amazing story, and the inside jokes are spot on throughout the whole thing. When these three characters get together nobody stands a chance!!!
