Publisher's summary

Three years after the events of The Golem's Eye, the young magician Nathaniel is an established member of the British Government.

But he faces unprecedented problems: foreign wars are going badly and Britain's enemies are mounting attacks close to London.

Increasingly distracted, he is treating Bartimaeus worse than ever: the long-suffering djinni is growing weak from too much time in this world, and his patience is at an end. Meanwhile, undercover in London, Kitty has been stealthily completing her research into magic and Bartimaeus' past. She hopes to break the endless cycle of conflict between djinn and humans, but will she be able to get anyone to listen?

Before any of these problems can be resolved, disaster strikes London from an unexpected source, and the destinies of Bartimaeus, Nathanial, and Kitty are thrown together once more. They have to face treacherous magicians, a long-fermented conspiracy, and an enemy from 'The Other Place' that threatens London and the world. Worst of all, they must somehow cope with each other.

The subtlety of character development is very sophisticated. Entertaining and laugh out loud funny while touching and thoughtful

Best of three

The Bartimaeus Trilogy is so great. Ptolemy's Gate is by far the best of the three. They are all so fun to listen to. The narrarator does a great job. Plan on droping everything else to get to the end of this book.

A BEAUTIFUL work of fantasy and a lovely narration

I won’t write everything I love about this book lest this review take three hours, so I’ll keep it short and sweet:
Narration: Wow! Simon Jones is absolutely stunning! By far the best narrator I’ve ever encountered. I’d already read the book beforehand, but this narration gave it a whole new something.
Book:
It’s a perfect finale to the trilogy. It ties it all together and left me crying and laughing at the same time. It is full of rich characters and a marvelous plot (usually it’s one or the other). The characters and the world in this trilogy have become so real to me that I almost feel out of place in the real world! I highly recommend it to everyone who loves reading fantasy but wants to read something really unique.
(Also I wouldn’t read this book if you haven’t read the previous two)

Why did the main character die

This on a book is pretty much the reason why an overall and story I did not include the class summary is because I do not think Nathaniel should have died what I was listening to I would’ve expected and like that Nathaniel and kitty get married because seem to have great the only flaw in this is that Nathaniel died I ask that you make another audiobook where Nathaniel comes back in to write this one so thank you for reading this.

One of my favorites

I love this series. What a fascinating, well thought out world. Fantastic characters. Excellently well written, witty dialogue. And to top it off, the most perfect performance by Simon Jones. All 3 books are as fantastic. If you're reading this I recommend you check out the 'next' book in the series; a prequel one-off called The Ring of Solomon.

Amazing!

Spoiler alert!
Perfect finish to a fantastic story! The ending kind of broke my heart, but I’m sure that was the intention. I may argue that it might be better than Harry Potter (which from me is saying a great deal). I wish I had read it when it came out, but I’m recently discovering stroud (read Lockwood and Co last year and the first two Scarlet and Browne books before picking up this series). But ending was hard to swallow and makes me never want to read it again. At least not anytime soon. I have become very attached to these characters and have to go lament this conclusion.
