    "Kids Love It"

My 4 and 5 year old kids love this!! I expected them to be bored, but they can't get enough of Pippi when we are in the car. We tried another popular children's book at the same time and this one is definitely favored.

    "Lovely introduction to a classic"

While the narrator took a little while to get used to, she captured the spirit of the stories. My children loved the story!

    "DON'T YOU WORRY ABOUT ME"

    COFFEE PARTY
PIPI LONGSTOCKING is annoying, loud, tells lies, strong and well, I fell in love with her. I jumped at the chance to get this in the daily sale, because of my sister. My sister and I grew up in the 60's. My sister was always the tallest kid in the class until High School. Back then, girls did not play basketball or almost any sports. They were suppose to be prim and proper and a tall girl, rarely fits that mold. My sister loved these books, because I believe, she felt out of place and here is a character who is as out of place as they come. Pipi's imagination and ability to see life different then anybody else, makes her loveable. She has an unusual amount of energy which might be due to the excessive amount of coffee she drinks. She is nine years old.

    VILLA VILLEKULLA
Be warned that you might have to explain a few things to your kids. For instance Pipi rolls out her cookie dough on the floor and she lets her monkey play in it. She encourages her friends to stick their hands in holes in trees. Her horse lives on her porch and there is no discussion about horse droppings. I loved the first five chapters and each chapter is basically a new adventure. What knock this down to four stars is how predictable this got. I believe kids will still love it (I know my sister did), but as an adult, you start to know what is going to happen long before it does. I also got a little annoyed with the constant silliness. What is funny in chapter one and two and then amusing in chapter three and four, becomes annoying in later chapters. Yet, I found when it was time to say good-bye, I felt an honest sadness to letting her go. I just got to know her and now we are saying good-bye.

I totally don't understand how anybody had a problem with this narrator. I thought she was great and made the story even better.

Retired to mountains of California. Sell on eBay as Prsilla. No TV. Volunteer in wildlife rehab. Knit, sew or embroider while listening.

    "CLASSIC, THOUGHT-PROVOKING AND GREAT FUN!"

No wonder kids love this book! They are inundated with rules, shoulds and admonishments to brush teeth, study, stay clean, and eventually get a good education so they can get a good job that pays a lot of munny! They are pushed, prodded and shushed, things grabbed out of their hands and things too high to reach or too heavy to pick up! Not Pippi! She already has money and is strong enough to lift her horse! She tells herself when to clean house and when to go to bed. She knows how to cook good things. She makes her own funny clothes. And she goes to a party and talks and talks and never feels uncomfortable about all the etiquette rules she broke! At the circus, she is the best part of the show! I have to wonder what my clueless Nazi HUD senior housing manager would do with a resident like Pippi (remotely like me). Absurd and imaginative actions offer relief in situations of restriction. When I printed a note to neighbor dogs and taped it down low on my door so they could read it, the offending note was photographed and I received a Lease Violation for using profanity! Children drew pictures and wrote poems in Auschwitz! Artists offer color and whimsy to cheer the world on. Darling Pippi gives all of us a tiny vacation from Real Life. Perfect enthusiastic narration. Delicious situations. "Tak," Astrid!

Went on a road trip with granddaughters. When they got bored we put on Pippi. They laughed and laughed. They still talk about it and say their father is king of the cannibals.
