Meanwhile, in London, Molly has married George Darling and is raising three children: Wendy, Michael, and John. One night, a visitor appears at her door; it's James, one of Peter's original Lost Boys. He is now working for Scotland Yard and suspects that the heir to England's throne, Prince Albert Edward, is under the influence of shadow creatures. These shadow creatures are determined to find a secret cache of starstuff, which fell to London many centuries ago. The starstuff is hidden in an underground vault, which has only one key: the Sword of Mercy, a legendary weapon kept with the crown jewels.
Molly is determined to locate and protect it, but when she suddenly goes missing, it is up to her 11-year-old daughter, Wendy, to keep it out of the Others' clutches. Wendy has heard her mother's stories of a flying boy named Peter Pan, and he may be her only hope of saving the world from a shadowy doom.

I am so excited about this new book. I thought after the last in the series the authors were done with it. I am in my 20s and still think this series is awesome. Jim Dale is the best narrator around. I was just looking through to see what he had narrated lately and came across this great book. I hope Mr. Barry and Pearson keep pumping these out. I for one will buy every one of them.
I am always on the look-out for child friendly books that I enjoy listening to as well. And that one of my favorite narrators is reading is icing on the cake! I highly enjoyed this entire series, though this particular book took me a little longer to get into than the others. I don't think anyone would be disappointed with these books!
The final instalment of this series takes place many years after the preceding adventures. This makes for some interesting situations. We find out how much things have changed during the intervening period and get to meet Wendy and her brothers, among other new characters.
As with the earlier books, this one is very exciting, funny, very well-written, and excellently narrated. It was a fun romp for my kids as well as for me and the missus.
The Sword of Mercy is another great book from Barry and Pearson. Although the story is a little more predictable I still greatly enjoyed every minute of it. Jim Dale once again did a wonderful job of narrating the story. I hope that they continue the series as I throughly enjoyed all three books.
I started listening to the Peter and the Starcatcher books because I was looking for books narrated by Jim Dale. I loved listening to him read all the Harry Potter books and wanted more. He did a fantastic job with these stories.
The Sword of Mercy, and all the other Starcatcher books are great fun. They are definitely children's books, but as an adult I still had fun returning to Neverland and hearing more about Peter. The first several Starcatcher books explain how Neverland came into being and how Peter became Peter. Those books are far enough back in time that there is no problems with continuity between them and the original Peter Pan book. My one issue with this 4th book is that Peter meets Wendy, John, and Michael as kids and thus it no longer makes sense why he meets them for the first time in the original story. But if you can suspend your disbelief then it's still a fun listen.
If you have followed the series, you will love this book! The narrator is the best and the story is captivating. You will thoroughly enjoy - highly recommend. Provides hours of great entertainment,
It was ok but the other 3 books were so good and the plotting so good. This one felt forced and it doesn't work with the Disney Peter Pan like the others do. My daughter did not like as well. Exciting but ruined the idea of how Peter became Peter by messing with Wendy and it not falling in line with the movie were the other books explained why things were a certain way in the movie.
Not messed up Wendy
His voice is great but even he seemed to lose something in trying to make it work.
I would love more books but they would have to take place after the Disney movie in the time line. My daughter was not fooled and was disappointed that this one did not stay true. Wendy didn't know about the magic in the movie and in this book she did.
Immigration lawyer in Kansas City. I like Character driven dramas, fantasy (monsters, magic and witches oh my!) and coming of age stories. Favs include: The Book Thief, The Game of Throne series, Harry Potter Series, Dresden Files, Nightside series, anything by Neil Gaimen, 100 Years of Solitude.
Please please please please write another book. And please please please have Jim Dale Narrate it. I have found this series utterly charming and engrossing. The much more psychological and in depth look at Peter Pan and the complexity and loneliness of what it means to be Peter Pan is a remarkable spin on this beloved classic. It is a greatly three dimensional back story on a literary character that I never really thought much about. I was truly sad when the book ended. it is creative, well written, funny, fast paced and engaging.
Narrated by Jim Dale is like putting butter creme icing on a cupcake, it just make something already wonderful even better.
Jim Dale + Peter and the.... = Magic every time. This book was such an enticing, fantastical, thrill ride. Now that Peter has met Wendy, I'm so, so hoping that there will be more adventures ahead! Thank you Dave & Ridley for continuing the saga.
Peter and the Starcatchers - the entire series.
Individual accents (especially the gruff & creepy ones), the sarcasm & wit, and the spookiness - without being overly dramatic. He's spot-on at every word.
Yes, but it also makes for awesome dreams if you fall asleep listening to it!
All the Peter and the Starcatcher books are awesome. The consistency in the readers voices for the characters really allows everyone to follow the story with interest. My 8 year old and my 16 year old stayed interested the entire series.
There are two other series which have some basis of history mixed in with entertainment, the Percy Jackson series, and the Gregor Overlander series.
