Publisher's summary

Ian Wigby is about to find out that he is a very special boy.

Along the southern coast of England, atop the White Cliffs of Dover, stands a castle. And at that castle's old keep is an orphanage. Delphi Keep has seen many youngsters come and go through its gates, and Ian Wigby and his sister, Theodosia, are happy to call it home.

Life has always been simple at the Keep, and the orphanage safe, until one day, Ian and Theo find a silver treasure box. And within the box, a prophesy. Three thousand years ago a great Greek oracle wrote of a quest. A quest on which the fate of the world depends. A quest that names two children - Ian and Theodosia.

Suddenly Delphi Keep is no longer safe. And Ian and Theo, along with a very special group of friends, realize they must unravel the meaning behind the scroll of Dover cavern before darkness falls on the world. And before an unfathomable evil catches up with them.

I loved it

I almost didnt buy this one, I love Victoria Laurie, but this didn't seem like her style. But it was well written and I am thinking that it might end up being a series. I hope so.

Not Abby Cooper Psychic - Preteen Reader's Rejoice

This is a good book with interesting twists and turns about two preteens in an English orphanage that is very well run. It targets an audience along the lines of the Harry Potter or Hunger Games series. If you are expecting an Abby Cooper type character you will be disappointed. It is not written for an adult female audience. I did find it better written and the narrator a better narrator than the one used in the Abby Cooper books. The middle dragged a bit but overall worth a credit and charming in its own way.

A very detailed and well written book!

Victoria Laurie is one of my favorite syfy genre mystery authors. I do not like admitting this but I was not convinced that the narrator, Susan Duerden, was going to be able to bring each character to life. However, she won me over somewhere between the end of the 2nd chapter and the beginning of the 3rd chapter. I began to picture in my mind's eye each character as they came into play. I thoroughly enjoyed this book!

excellent and scarey

I enjoyed this book so much. It had a lot of scenes that had me biting my nails. It was so good and an excellent reader. I can not wait to read the next book in this hopeful series. I hope it continues.

I loved this book!

This is an outstanding fantasy book! It is full of wonderful characters, adventure, and danger. I love books about magic and the supernatural, and this one fits the bill. I was riveted! The characters were very human and vulnerable but very courageous. I didn't want to stop listening. Victoria Laurie has written other great books, but this one is a classic.

Susan Duerden's portrayal of the characters is wonderful. She grabbed my attention and held it. I was amazed at her ability to create so many different voices.

The only complaint I have is that when I came back to Audible to look for the next book in the series, it wasn't here. Audible, please bring us Victoria's next book, The Curse of Deadman's Forest, and use Susan as the reader again! Thanks!

Great Story for young and old(er)

This is a great book for all ages--written well, narration is absolutely great! The story is woven well with mythology, history, fantasy and fun in the spirit of Harry Potter. I will provide a warning. Subsequent books in the series do not appear to be offered in audio.

Refreshing!

What made the experience of listening to Oracles of Delphi Keep the most enjoyable?

The plot was well planned and the narrator was pleasant to listen to.

Any additional comments?

I really enjoyed the plot, entire story line and how all the characters intertwined. The ending left plenty of room for a sequel and I am looking forward to that one as well. The narrator did a great job with the character voices and expressions. Very enjoyable book.
