Along the southern coast of England, atop the White Cliffs of Dover, stands a castle. And at that castle's old keep is an orphanage. Delphi Keep has seen many youngsters come and go through its gates, and Ian Wigby and his sister, Theodosia, are happy to call it home.
Life has always been simple at the Keep, and the orphanage safe, until one day, Ian and Theo find a silver treasure box. And within the box, a prophesy. Three thousand years ago a great Greek oracle wrote of a quest. A quest on which the fate of the world depends. A quest that names two children: Ian and Theodosia.
Suddenly Delphi Keep is no longer safe. And Ian and Theo, along with a very special group of friends, realize they must unravel the meaning behind the scroll of Dover cavern before darkness falls on the world. And before an unfathomable evil catches up with them.

I enjoyed this book so much. It had a lot of scenes that had me biting my nails. It was so good and an excellent reader. I can not wait to read the next book in this hopeful series. I hope it continues.
This is an outstanding fantasy book! It is full of wonderful characters, adventure, and danger. I love books about magic and the supernatural, and this one fits the bill. I was riveted! The characters were very human and vulnerable but very courageous. I didn't want to stop listening. Victoria Laurie has written other great books, but this one is a classic.
Susan Duerden's portrayal of the characters is wonderful. She grabbed my attention and held it. I was amazed at her ability to create so many different voices.
The only complaint I have is that when I came back to Audible to look for the next book in the series, it wasn't here. Audible, please bring us Victoria's next book, The Curse of Deadman's Forest, and use Susan as the reader again! Thanks!
This was a pleasant surprise. Full of Fantasy, action and suspense. Loved the characters! Hope there is a sequel!
this book is a great adventure! I got it hoping that it was something I could listen to on trips with my 10 and 15 year old without one of them complaining...It fit the bill perfectly! We all loved this book! The writing is discriptive and engaging and the reader does a great job. My only complaint is that the next books aren't on Audible! Whats the deal with that? WHY do the first one and then not the rest!!?? Come on , Audible, lets see the rest!!
I purchased this book for my daughter and I to listen to on the way to school. My 8 yr old says that this book makes her think a lot about history. She thinks the book is well written. She thinks all kids her age should read this book. I agree. It's fantastic!!!
I almost didnt buy this one, I love Victoria Laurie, but this didn't seem like her style. But it was well written and I am thinking that it might end up being a series. I hope so.
This is a good book with interesting twists and turns about two preteens in an English orphanage that is very well run. It targets an audience along the lines of the Harry Potter or Hunger Games series. If you are expecting an Abby Cooper type character you will be disappointed. It is not written for an adult female audience. I did find it better written and the narrator a better narrator than the one used in the Abby Cooper books. The middle dragged a bit but overall worth a credit and charming in its own way.
