Publisher's summary

Now a major motion picture.... For the Green family, it's going to be a summer of hard work, blackmail...and flying pigs!

The Green family is living quite happily on Deep Valley Farm until war breaks out. Father goes off to fight who knows where, the Greens' spoiled cousins come from the city to stay, and someone threatens to take the farm from them. Just when it seems things can't get any worse, the piglets escape and the children get completely Out of Control.

Only one person can be counted on in a situation like this: enter Nanny McPhee. But beware...Nanny McPhee is nothing like other nannies - and it's not just the warts!

With wit and warmth, Emma Thompson, writer and star of Nanny McPhee Returns, recounts one family's tumultuous summer in an audiobook that alternates between the story and a behind-the-scenes film diary, bringing a delightful and unique perspective to this funny and magical adventure for all ages.

As good as Nanny McPhee in person!

I downloaded this audio book just before a five-hour car ride with my two sons (ages 8 and 10) who normally fight non-stop. (They had already read the paperback version of the book so knew the story.) They sat still and listened for the ENTIRE car ride and then listened to it again on the way home. Thank you Nanny McPhee (and Emma Thompson)! P.S. I enjoyed it, too.

I love Emma

Emma Thompson is superb at reading books. She captures every voice and inflection exactly as it should be. You feel like she is reading to you personally while cozied up by the fire. She’s tops in my book. I hope she writes more Nanny McPhee books. They’re wonderful.

Listening to this feels like you're drinking cocoa

and sitting by a fire with Emma Thompson(who is in fact, your favorite aunt). She is telling you about her day making this movie, and alternating with the story itself. It's a marvelous interaction-a loving look at behind the scenes of movie making, and the wonderful wackiness of the story. Emma's humor about herself is charming and self deprecating (rather the opposite of a diva) and she is a great story teller in so many ways...

LOVE Emma Thompson

Nanny McPhee and her adventures are so much fun to listen to
Emma Thompson, Jim Dale, and Juliet Stevenson are my all time favorite narrators. Emma’s diary parts of the narration are funny and interesting - a peek into her life and perspective on many things

Good Listen for all ages.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

It is a great listen for all ages, Emma Thompson does a great job at narrating at a level that should apeal to all age groups as she both tells the story and explains the "daily life" on set at the filming. There was a smile on my face from beginning to end.

A fun and goofy ride.

Would you listen to Nanny McPhee Returns again? Why?

Of course — it's just the sort of fun-for-fun nonsense that one shouldn't listen to 5x in a summer but one must.

What about Emma Thompson’s performance did you like?

She has a whimsical way of puttering about through eccentric characters caught in all sorts of muddles.

Good Story, Good Read, Poor layout

I enjoyed the story, it was nice having it read by Emma Thompson (the voice and actress of Nanny McPhee). I didn't like the layout of the reading, she jummped from the story to the filming of the movie, back and forth, that part I didn't care for at all.

Loved it!-- but I'm so confused..

So...I thought this would be a sequel to The Big Bang, but it wasn't. My fault for not reading the synopsis. There is no difference between this version and The Big Bang. You get the narration and the bit with Emma Thompson answering questions from fans....I so wish this was a sequel.

Regardless, this will definitely be a story I come back to over and over again. It is just so good and funny.

Repeated content

Unfortunately this appears to be exactly the same content as Nanny McPhee and The Big Bang rather than the sequel.
