"Kate Burton brings the rags-to-riches story to life with a broad range of voices and accents." (School Library Journal)
"An exciting adventure." (AudioFile)
Reader has a very "british" accent which generally works well for this book and, despite some revolting descriptions (which the kids found funny), its a fun story
My first two children loved this book and now that my 3rd child is reading it, she could use some help with "reading along" so I downloaded the audiobook for her to listen to while reading the book.
This complaint is not about the book or the narrator but about the production.
* Why is there completely unrelated loud music covering up the over the voice over in the beginning of each new chapter?
* There are minutes (!) long breaks between chapters, making you wonder if the recording has stopped - yet you can't fast forward to the next chapter, bringing me to my next and most frustrating point:
* The book is divided in sections, each section containing several chapters. You can only forward between sections, not between chapters.
At first I imagined it was my iphone that was glitching, but after downloading on different devices and experiencing the same, I gave up on the audio version. Don't recommend.
This is a very good book. Georgia Byng has outdone herself-big time- with a book that focuses on the power of hypnotism, and the even greater power of friendship.
The only bad thing about this Audiobook is that the format has wide gaps between some chapters.
This is about a girl with magical powers who goes on an adventure after living in a terrible orphanage all of her ife, so the main character Molly is very likable. There's also a despicable bad guy, so that makes it even more fun.
