Publisher's summary

Nobody could capture the Phantom. She was the wildest mare on Assateague Island. They said she was like the wind, that the white "map" on her shoulders was her mark of freedom.

Paul and Maureen Beebe had their hearts set on owning her. They were itching to buy and tame her and worked hard to earn the money she would cost. But the roundup men had tried to capture her and for two years she had escaped them.

Pony Penning Day holds a surprise for everyone, for Paul not only brings in the Phantom, but her newborn colt as well. Can Paul and Maureen possibly earn enough to buy them both?

Just a great little book

Nice to listen to a simple story with only a few characters and no violence.

Great way to get your young reader hooked on books

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I recommend this book as well as other classic early reader books to all parents. With all my children I start them off with the first book in a series on audio, then if they want to know what happens next they have to read them. This is a great book for little horse loving girls.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Misty of Chincoteague?

Can't you just see the horses running down the beach?

The classic is still a hit!

I am 31 years old and decided to listen to this book on my way up to Chincoteague with my mother. Fortunately we got so engrossed with meaningful conversation we didn't listen to it but I finally got around to listening to it and I throughly enjoyed it! I would suggest it for all ages!

Classic story brought to life with excellent narration!

Heartwarming classic for everyone, especially if you’ve ever loved, or longed to love a horse. I have loved this book since my childhood, when I first read it myself. Truly timeless and enjoyable for the whole family, my children (ages 8, 6, 4) all listened intently, with great expectation as the story unfolded. The narrator had a pleasant voice and did an excellent job with the geographical accents of the characters...much better than I was doing as a read-aloud for my children.

Overall very enjoyable

There was a lot of emotion and description in this book. Some parts were confusing due to older-fashioned language used.
