Publisher's summary

Liesl lives in a tiny attic bedroom, locked away by her cruel stepmother. Her only friends are the shadows and the mice - until one night a ghost appears from the darkness. It is Po, who comes from the Other Side. Both Liesl and Po are lonely, but together they are less alone.

That same night, an alchemist's apprentice, Will, bungles an important delivery. He accidentally switches a box containing the most powerful magic in the world with one containing something decidedly less remarkable.

Will's mistake has tremendous consequences for Liesl and Po, and it draws the three of them together on an extraordinary journey.

From New York Times best-selling author Lauren Oliver comes a luminous and magnificent novel that glows with rare magic, ghostly wonders, and a true friendship that lights even the darkest of places.

Entertaining Tale!

This delightful story of a little girl who is trying to honor her father's wishes has some predictable elements, but also some surprises along the way. If you always cheer for the underdog, this story is for you.

Jim Dale Never Disapoints

If you could sum up Liesl & Po in three words, what would they be?

Liesl and Po is a darling little mash up of turn of the century and fantasy world themes. From trains to magic with ghosts, the story is good fun and the narration by Jim Dale is wonderful.

Wonderfully Written! Wonderfully Performed!

This book was magical, exciting, and "ineffably" sweet! It was very well written. The narrator made the characters come alive. I loved it!

Well read and easy to fall into...

A well written story with good characters, an interesting plot and good flow. The only thing that keeps me from giving a full 5 out of 5, is that the story does not really adhere to an age group. The story would be ok to listen to with perhaps an 8 year old but for the addition of poisoning, murder and a spiteful step mother. As an adult listening while washing dishes and cleaning the house, it was quite diverting.

I'd listen to anything Jim Dale reads.

What was most disappointing about Lauren Oliver and Kei Acedera ’s story?

Too simplistic. I realize that it was for kids, but even so it was a bit surface level.

Which character – as performed by Jim Dale – was your favorite?

I liked Po.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

No

Any additional comments?

Jim Dale could read from a microwave manual and I would listen to it. That being said, the story itself was a bit bland.

Save your credit

I can't finish this book. The narrator is not very good and has this fake, horrible irish/scottish accent he desperately tries to do. The story just doesn't grab you or move you, don't spend your money on it. It's just plain boring and lame! Sorry!
