Better than expected
I read previous reviews that people thought it was "too young" and not relatable, but I didn't find this to be true. But I thought that the author did well of writing the struggle of going through loss, and the pain of it as well.

I wanted to love it, but it just wasn't for me.
Is there anything you would change about this book?
I went into it expecting something very different so I wasn't as much of a fan as everyone else- it was nothing in particular.
Has If I Stay turned you off from other books in this genre?
Not at all! I LOVE YA. I think I probably should have started with Gayle's other series first.

Like teenage angst? Then this book is for you.

I bought this audio book because I have an interest in books that were made into movies. The movie version of this book looked amazing and so I thought I would give the book a try. MISTAKE! If you like Young Reader novels with a lot of teenage angst like Twilight, then you will probably like this book. I was determined to finish it because I had spent the full price to pay for it...but in my opinion...it was NOT worth my time. This is not the fault of the author or of the narrator. This is simply a book that seemed like it was more of a thriller (my type of genre) and turned out to be a book about a girl choosing whether she should allow herself to die or not.
There was an unusual love story sideline that could have been good, but I wasn't able to really relate to (again teenage angst). The flash back sequences about the best friend was pretty good though and I really enjoyed that 1/5th of the book.

oh my gah... speechlessness
What made the experience of listening to If I Stay the most enjoyable?
the narrator sounded like the girl was actually talking to you. like she wasnt just reading to you. she was actually talking to you like a normal person.
What other book might you compare If I Stay to and why?
the fault in our stars by john green. i LOVED the fault in our stars and its similar to this one by the humor and the stories and how they tie in with the main one.
What about Kirsten Potter’s performance did you like?
it was like she was talking to you and not just reading to you.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
i cried whenever she came to the realization that her little brother died and at the end when she chose to stay.
