Publisher's summary

Beneath a shadowed moon in a cloud-streaked sky, the sacred orb splits and a hatchling is born. It is Nyroc, son of Kludd, fallen leader of the Pure Ones, and his evil mate, Nyra. Born from evil, trained to evil, Nyroc is destined to fulfill his father's terrible plan: the oppression of all owldom under the vicious talons of the Pure Ones.

But doubt grows in Nyroc's heart, fed by strange, forbidden legends of a great tree far away where noble owls live in peace. And a light dawns in Nyroc's gizzard, nourished by friendship. A day is nearing when Nyroc must choose to fulfill his destiny or to defy it. It will be a day of blood and terror

this is my fav gahoole story yet!

I read the wolves of the beyond first as a kid, and now that I'm finally able to get more story out of the Fengo and other histories of the wolves of the beyond, I am so excited! I can't wait to see what happens next.

this new main character is a great change of pace and a very interesting character

finally no more twilight songs!

without those awful twilight songs this is a much more enjoyable book. and the new protagonist is far more interesting than Sorren was.

The Guardian Series is Excellent!

My eight-year old and I listened to the first eight Guardians of Ga'Hoole books and enjoyed them all immensely. Being a bird lover, these tales are especially fun and for weeks on end, our world became the world of the Guardians. Pamela Garelick's narration is very good; only her voice for Gyflie was a bit annoying (the voice was very high) though I got used to it. Unfortunately, the next seven books have not yet been recorded so we're reading them ourselves!

Northern Kingdom Adventure

What made the experience of listening to Guardians of Ga'Hoole the most enjoyable?

If you believe in the legends, the legends will come true. It doesn't matter that one does not believe in ghost. The truth will always bear fruit in the end. It doesn't matter if you are slow to know about the legends and think they are for someone else. The truth of the matter will teach us to be true to ourselves and our own heart.

What other book might you compare Guardians of Ga'Hoole to and why?

The writing of Shakespeare comes to mind. One has to be true to themselves and follow the course in life that comes to following what one feels is right.

What does Pamela Garelick bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

There were a variety of characters, not just owls. The sounds of someone who is good has the sounds of good. The charcters who are not so good, bring out a voice of that evil.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I had a hard time stopping, even to fix lunch. I wanted to know what would happen next as the plot thickened as if it had the layers of a burley-thick-multilayered-meat sandwich.

Any additional comments?

I love the way the story takes the mind on a wonderful adventure...it shows that because we are born in a family with less than desirable circumstances, we have the ability to change those circumstances. We have free will. We have a choice in how we wish to live our lives.
