Publisher's summary

Rich in suspense and brimming with adventure, the New York Times best-selling Underland Chronicles unfold the fate of the Underland and the great warrior, Gregor. Suzanne Collins is also the author of the best-selling Hunger Games trilogy.

Gregor is summoned back to the Underland by the terms of a second prophecy. Spies have reported the sighting of a Rat King, a character who has been legendary since the Middle Ages. Recognizable by its tremendous size and snow-white coat, the Rat King is destined to bring a World War to the Underland. Gregor eventually comes face to face with the Rat King, and to his surprise, he finds he is unable to kill this creature. His heart tells him he's making the right decision. Giant Cockroaches, Bats and Rats, Oh My!

What did you love best about Gregor and the Prophecy of Bane?

As the second book in this series the reader doesn't get bogged down with info from the first book but enough to follow the story. I love the fantasy land of the Underworld and Gregor's relationship with those who live there.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Gregor was my favorite character because he would be brave but also remind you that he is still just a young teenager.

Which character – as performed by Paul Boehmer – was your favorite?

Gregor, but I loved how he performed Boots.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, I couldn't stop listening to it. I had it on while cooking, cleaning and in bed!

Any additional comments?

Can't wait to hear the next book in the series.

Very unexpected

Would you listen to Gregor and the Prophecy of Bane again? Why?

I would certainly listen to Gregor and the Prophecy of Bane again. I have to say that the first book didn't make me eager to know what would happen to Boots and Gregor, but since it was a Suzanne Collins book, I thought I might, and I don't regret it. This book is fool of twists, turns, and suspense. Now, this one made me eager to dive into the next one, and it made me cry at least 3 times.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Gregor and the Prophecy of Bane?

Spoiler alert: When all hope had been lost about Boots, despair took place. But the princess got brought back to the warrior.

What does Paul Boehmer bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I just loved his narration of Boots. So intense and real - just how little toddlers can be.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Yes, but I cried more than I laughed.

Fantastic Book and Series

What made the experience of listening to Gregor and the Prophecy of Bane the most enjoyable?

I have enjoyed both the first and second Gregor the Overlander book with my 8.5 y/o daughter. The story is something both adults and children will enjoy. The story is captivating and moves quickly and leaves you curious for the next chapter and then book. Paul Boehmer does a fantastic job narrating.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Gregor and the Prophecy of Bane?

Well if I told you it would ruin the book for you.....

Very interesting and never boring!

I loved the story. The narrator did very good work the different voices for the different characters, like the roaches and bats. This book does have disturbing moments, but it has action in every moment and never gets boring.

Good not great

Ok, someone compared this to Harry Potter. In my opinion Suzanne Collins doesn't have the depth of soul of Harry's author. She can't explore characters the way Rowling does, and setup such amazing acts of friendship. Gregor books are good, and a great setting and story, but for me, the 2nd book was only 1/2 as good as the first. I did cry, and cheer, and laugh out loud, but then was feeling stale, and seeing very similar trends in the Bane (2nd) book. I was sad about that. Teh Narrator is amazing, but RipRed had a very different voice and character in the Bane book. Weird. He was my favorite Character. I realize this is all personal, but I promise these books are not on par with Potter. Don't expect that and it's a good read and fun tale that is easy to get lost in.
