Through compelling reminiscences of his grandfather's life in the United States and Japan, Allen Say poignantly recounts his family's journey to America. The feelings of being torn by a love for two different countries are sensitively narrated by B.D.Wong.

Estate planning lawyer and mom to two boys. My older son liked audiobooks as an infant, and I've listened to a lot since then.
Allen Say's bittersweet masterpiece tells the story of his grandfather, and his life split between the US and Japan. Being a children's book, the prose is spare, almost poetry. B.D. Wong is the perfect narrator. Listen at least once with the picture book in front of you. It should be available at most libraries.
