Editorial reviews

Help! We Have Strange Powers! is the 10th book in R. L. Stine's Goosebumps Horrorland series, which introduces new characters to the Goosebumps universe, only to unite them with old protagonists (including villains) in one of Stine's spookiest settings yet - a haunted theme park. The author has sold more than 300 million books precisely because he has mastered a kid-friendly style that blends fright and delight.

Cassandra Morris has a youthful voice that easily captures 12-year-old Jillian Gerard, whether she's complaining about her male twin, Jackson, or tensely navigating life-or-death situations. Morris' riveting performance is bolstered by dramatic sound effects and mood music.

Publisher's summary

Jilly and her twin brother, Jackson, are startled when they suddenly discover they can read each other's thoughts. But that's not all. They can read other people's thoughts, too!

The strange new powers are exciting...at first. But soon they discover that somebody else knows their secret - somebody who will stop at nothing to control their powers.

Scare yourself silly! Listen to more Goosebumps.

Good story line and better than ,most of goosebumps books. Only problem is the music.

beware your fortune

I listened to the audible audiobook. I like the sound effects, but I'm not a fan of the music. I liked the narrator and how she gets into character. For example, in chapter 23, she uses an effect to make her voice go higher and higher pitched and I thought that was great.

This is my first horror land story. I thought it was a little more brutal than the normal goosebumps I'm used to. Having kids go brain dead (even temporarily) isn't something that normally happens in the children's stories. There are 33 chapters in the book. For anyone else not aware, at chapter 24 the main story ends and it starts a continuing saga from the rest of the horror land series. I was a little confused at first until I realized it.
