I have a 5 and a 3 year old and they both love listening to this book. The stories are 5-10 minutes each, just perfect for the shorter attention spans of young kids. The author wonderfully conveys the different characters personalities.
There is nothing better than a book read by its author - Arnold Lobel puts voices and mannerisms to his lovely characters, Frog & Toad, that fit so perfectly with these beloved books. My kids of various ages ask for this audiobook all the time!
My 7 year old boy just loves Frog & Toad. So I thought it would be good for him to listen to the stories on the road. And he loved it! Hearing from the author of his own book is really fun point too. :)
I liked listening to Arnold Lobel's stories about Frog and Toad when I was little. This is the complete collection where you can hear all four Frog and Toad books. Don't waste your credits or money buying the books separately. Buy the complete collection and you can save a lot on Lobel's popular books.
The score is Peter and the Wolf good. Arnold loebel did such a great job breathing life into his stories with the reading.
When the kids get in the car and ask to listen to Frog and Toad
My children are 3 and 6 years old and they love listening to this over and over again. It has gotten us through many long car rides.
I just loved listening to these stories when I was a child and now to be able to listen to them with my son is a great experience. The children I care for also love listening to these stories and following along in my old picture books..... Love these stories!
I bought this for my daughter (2.5) and she can't get enough of it. She'll listen to the whole thing nonstop in the car, and then ask to start it up again. The stories are simple enough for small children and the two characters appeal to them. The reading by Lobel is excellent: he does a great job giving each of the two characters their own voice.
The only down side is that it can be a pain to find a single requested story as each complete book is a "track". However, after numerous listenings you get very good at locating "The Shivers" or "Cookies" by demand.
This is one of those children's books that may have been better left in print. The story's are cute and very simple, but it's easy to tell the author relied on illustrations, not plot, to keep the kids interested.
It is nice that the stories are broken down into 10 minute adventures, but I wouldn't buy this book if you are looking for a "Family Listen". I'm sure older kids (and parents) listening will revolt quickly. Listen to the audio sample first to see if this is simple enough or too simple for your listeners.
Story was unbearably boring. Even my preschoolers were bored.
I've always heard that this is a Classic. I fail to understand why.
Read too slowly. Didn't differentiate between the two characters enough. The background music was overbearing and too loud.
So disappointed. I could have spent that credit on a fabulous, memorable story instead of this.
