Like knights of old, they defend the weak, right every wrong - and solve the mystery of Max's past - proving once and for all that courage comes in all sizes.

I would recommend the book to a colleague.I listened to be able to multi-task and be ready to discuss with students.
Freak the Mighty were my favorite characters!! The two outcasts complement each other.
Yes, it was.
This book is perfect for middle school and up. As an adult, I was thoroughly entertained. The language was witty, yet understandable for younger kids. The naration was excellent.
The performance was lack luster perhaps by design. Just wish there had been a touch more emotion. The story is supposed to be written as though someone were talking and not writing.
Some middle school students that heard the recording were not hoocked by the voice. Great for older students who have a difficulty reading the book.
This was my first audio book I have ever listened to. I really enjoyed the book and this was some great writing. I can't wait to see the movie now! There is some material that in my opinion would not be suited for a young child. It was good!
I feel as through I was right along side Max and Kevin, the book was the best I have read in a long time. thank you for thinking about and appreciating life more.
I listened to this story with my son, who has LD and has difficulty reading books in print, but loves audio books. He thought this was the best book he's ever read and profoundly connected with the characters. He was able to analyze the book for a school project and found it to be easier because he understood the book so well.
My son loved the part where Freak and Max take on the bullies and then later Killer Kane.
Eldon Henson's narration was exactly what we wanted for this story. He was perfect as Max and absolutely brought the story alive for my son.
No, because we wanted to talk about it after a few chapters.
I'd recommend following up with the movie, "The Mighty" and talk about how the book and then compare the two.
