Publisher's summary

Almost-world-famous detectives Ellie and Ace are back!

At least Ellie is. But where is Ace? Could it be? Is he really....

Asleep on the job?!

Even worse, has he become a sneaky snacker? A cheating chow hound? Ace no longer wants to take a bite out of crime, he just wants to take a bite out of dinner - Ellie's, that is. How will Ellie and Ace ever become world famous detectives if Ace has given up the sleuth business for good?

"Ace, come on! Please? It's go time," Ellie begged her friend.

But for Ace it was definitely "No" time. He was much too busy rolling back and forth on the grass to help Ellie. Ellie had forced him to take a bath yesterday. The little dog was still grumpy. He did not plan to stop rolling until he smelled like himself again - grassy with a hint of dirt. "Smell me now!" he thought as he wriggled around.

Ellie shook her head. Ace had never ignored go time before. She had to figure this mess out. The peanut thieves would have to wait. Her friend's attitude was a much bigger mystery. She needed to solve the Ace case right away.

In her biggest case yet, girl detective Ellie will have to figure out why her dog pal Ace is snoozing instead of sniffing out clues. Can she solve the mystery of her mixed-up mutt before Ace bites off more than he can chew?

A fun listen to share

Ellie and Ace are fun detectives. This time Ace is just not himself. He would rather eat then find clues. Ellie is a spunky girl, who is not only on the hunt for clues but to be famous too. The laughs are abundant in this story as Ellie hunts to figure out what is wrong with her dog. My son giggled his way through this story. When it was over, he begged me for more.

Tiffany Williams has a great voice for this book. She had an easy to listen to voice. Ms. Williams narrates Ellie as spunky as I imagined her. My son loved listening to Ms. Williams narration.

Case of Ace

Once again I'm loving these stories, each one is better than the other. Great narration, fun characters and good for all ages. (I'm 25) In this one we try to figure out why Ace is acting so strange.

Cute mystery for kids!

What did you love best about Ellie and Ace: The Case of the Mixed-Up Mutt?

I love that this is like a starter book for kids who are into mysteries! I can see them moving on to Nancy Drew, Sherlock Holmes, Agatha Christie and many cozy mysteries!

Who was your favorite character and why?

I like Ellie, even though she is a touch slow on the uptake with this mystery. It takes her a bit to discover what is wrong. Kudos to her for being the first to notice something was off.

What does Tiffany Williams bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She has a great voice for this series! Youthful and exuberant, just like the story!!! She is also very easy to understand, something important to young readers. Her pace is just swift enough to keep a kid on their toes.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I loved the reunion!! Such a happy moment!

Any additional comments?

I highly recommend listening to the author comments at the end! They are a real hoot!! I am sure kids will love the snarky comments!
