Publisher's Summary

Whisper Silksinger is no warrior - she's a weaver of flying carpets. But when devils attack her isolated island home, she must flee alone with nothing but a copper tea kettle and the ember that smolders inside it. That ember - her secret and her burden - is none other than the Azazel, one of the seven Djinn who made the world, and it falls to Whisper to keep him safe.

Pursued by devils, she joins a dragonfly caravan and meets Hirik, a mysterious faerie mercenary with an ancient sword and a dangerous secret of his own.

All the while, Magpie Windwitch, the Djinn King's Champion, is on their trail, intent on finding Whisper before the devils do. It's a desperate quest, because if the Azazel should die, the Tapestry of Creation will fail, and all life with it.

Discover an exotic world of secrets and spice, fortune-tellers, hobgoblins, mercenaries, and devils. Whisper and Hirik are intriguing new charactrs whose unexpected magic will play an important role in the battles to come, as new foes rise and the devil armies of the Dawn Days are unleashed once more.

    "Dreamdark: Silksinger worth EVERY penny!"

I purchased the 1st Black Bringer book because I had a spare credit and read the reviews. It sparked my interest, I was looking for something different, randomly typed "fairy story" in the search bar...and Black Bringer popped up. I used my spare credit, and WOW...I was actually surprised and QUITE happy. The book was captivating and the characters very well written. I hadn't had a delightful fantasy "romp" like that in a while. So enthralled was I with the first book that I didn't wait for a 'spare' credit...I spent my money on the next book right away! I was NOT dissapointed. THIS IS A GREAT BOOK. Do not get me wrong, it may say "teen" in the section, but this story is delightful for all ages. I work in a factory and listen to audio books all day long to get me through the monotony of my job. These books had me skipping through my day! They are positive, up beat, and a REALLY good adventure. Both Narrators do a MARVOLOUS job.
In Silk Singer especially there is a really emotional scene and you can ACTUALLY hear the narrators voice filled with 'tears'. The emotion is there and the acting and voices are fantastic. It stops becoming an audio book and really become an audio adventure. I recommend this book and it's predecessor for all ages! 5 Stars!

    "Fun fantasy escape"

After reading the first installment of the series I had to read the second. I'd read Taylor's Daughter of Smoke and Bone series and was completely taken by those books. The Dreamdark series didn't have me up late and reading during every spare moment as the other series but it was still fun. I thought this second book was a little too much of a jump from the first in terms of the large number of new creatures. It reminded me of when the new Star Wars came out and I heard they had used the opportunity to produce plenty of action figures. Some of the scenes meant to take the reader to the edge before a rescue seemed a little contrived. Part of my disappointment was the reading style of Cassandra Campbell. I had read the first book (Blackbringer) and was disappointed to see that Davina Porter had been the narrator of that Audible version. I think her reading style is superb and her accents are spot on. Not so much with Cassandra Campbell.

    "Good addition to the series"

I enjoyed this book very much. At the beginning I was afraid that this book would do what some sequels do and focus primarily on a different character than the one we'd come to love in the first book, but it came back around to the characters we already knew and simply added a few more. My only complaint is with the narration - this book switched narrators from the first book, which is always a jolt since the voices change, but this narrator did a pretty good job with the voices. My problem was with some of the more drama-laden sections, she over-read them as you'd imagine a preschool teacher might, infusing her voice with a bit too much surprise/fear/etc. It irked me a bit. But overall it wasn't that big a deal and it was an enjoyable listen.

    "What a wonderful journey!"

Even as an adult I love to read novels meant for younger audiences nd this story was time well spent. Itweaves a wonderful tale keeping all the charm safe for the young. Both author and narrator have created lasting memories.

"Well Written Just Like The Rest Of Taylor's Work"
What made the experience of listening to Dreamdark the most enjoyable?

The narrator was 100x better in this second book that the first narrator they had. It made the first book unbearable to listen too. I fully enjoyed book 2.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Dreamdark?

Herrick and Whisper, most memorable characters. I love Slombie too.

What about Cassandra Campbell’s performance did you like?

Everything, she can do a wide array of voices as well.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I never want to listen to books all in one sitting.

"Story is great, but not the narrator"

I have read the books Blackbringer and Silksinger and loved them so much that I bought the audiobooks. In Blackbringer I think Davina Porter captured the spirit of Magpie Windwitch and her crows perfectly. Unfortunately in Silksinger this was not the case.

"same great story- new disappointing narrator"
Where does Dreamdark rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

One of my favorites, found it after listening to Daughter of Smoke and Bone and grateful I did.

Would you be willing to try another one of Cassandra Campbell’s performances?

The narrator is fine but after listening to the original narrator it is so disappointing!
