Audible Editor Reviews

The fourth book in the Oz series finds Dorothy Gale and her friends tumbling through a crack in the ground after an earthquake hits California. Narrator Claire Bronson's performance is approachable and warm, and she moves through the story at a brisk pace without sacrificing clarity. Dorothy reunites with the Wizard of Oz and his troupe of nine piglets, and the group embarks on a series of adventures that sees them tangling with a race of vegetable people, visiting a valley with invisible inhabitants, and escaping from wooden gargoyles. This audiobook is an ideal choice for listeners looking for fun children's entertainment.

Publisher's Summary

A California earthquake sends Dorothy Gale and her new friends--Zeb the farm boy, Jim the cab-horse, and Eureka the mischievous kitten--tumbling through a crack in the ground. Deep beneath the earth, Dorothy is reunited with her old friend the Wizard of Oz and his troupe of nine tiny piglets.

Together, Dorothy, the Wizard, and their friends travel through many fantastic lands, where they encounter the Mangaboos, people growing like vegetables in the ground; cross the Valley of Voe, where dama-fruit has turned everyone invisible; and are captured by mysterious flying Gargoyles. At last, the intrepid travelers reach Oz, where they have many unforgettable encounters with such favorites as the Scarecrow and the Tin Woodman, the Cowardly Lion and the Hungry Tiger, Princess Ozma and the wooden Sawhorse.

An old broad that enjoys books of all types. Would rather read than write reviews though. I know what I like, and won't be bothered by crap.

"Fourth book of the Wizard of OZ"

For some reason I thought this was the second book, but it obviously wasn't as Ozma was already introduced and other characters that show up in this book.

The story starts out in San Francisco just in time for an earthquake to take Dorothy and Zeb, ( a cousin) along with Eureka, her cat and Jim an old workhorse into a hole in the ground that leads them into various adventures.

There are vegetable people, baby dragons, invisible people and finally an escape to OZ and Ozma the queen of the land who helps them get home.

It is filled with many adventures and is a good story in the series. I read all of these when I was younger and this is fun to read them again. Claire Bronson is good as the narrator, in fact I enjoyed her better than Anne Hathaway's narration of the first book.

Well worth your time and money if you have children or grandchildren that would enjoy these tales.
