Danny Marin thinks the comic-book super-hero Shrinkman is the coolest! Shrinkman can shrink to the size of a bug and go places most ordinary people can’t. But when Danny suddenly starts to shrink, he finds that being small isn’t really so super. In fact, it’s terrifying. First, he’s nearly torn to pieces by his own dog. Then he’s in a fight to the death with a grasshopper! Danny had better find a way to get BIG again - or he will be a little bit gone!
I thought I knew everything there was to know about my parents, like what they always eat for breakfast. Then one morning, everything changes. Mom suddenly hates tea and loves cornflakes and Dad’s scarfing down poached eggs like there’s no tomorrow - which, by the way, there may not be unless I can figure out what’s gone wrong. Can it really be that Mom and Dad have been replaced by aliens from another world? And what the heck happened to our dog?
I didn’t think it was such a great idea when my parents decided the family would spend the summer in a vacant house in a small town called Blairingville. Boringville seemed more like it. But as it turned out, this vacation was anything but boring. It all started when my brother and I looked in that closet marked OFF LIMITS. Now I’ve got a monster breathing down my neck!
Eleven-year-old Josh and 12-year-old Amanda just moved into the oldest and weirdest house on the block - the two siblings think it might even be haunted! But of course their parents don't believe them. You'll get used to it, they say. Go out and make some new friends. But the creepy kids are not like anyone Josh and Amanda have ever met before. And when they take a shortcut through the cemetery one night, Josh and Amanda learn why.
On the first day of school, Artie falls out of his bed and hits his head. Hard. He tells his mom he's dizzy, and she says: "You’re just worried about your first day in a new school." On the second day of school, Artie falls out of bed and hits his head. Hard. He tells his mom he's dizzy, and she says: "You’re just worried about your first day in a new school." Huh?
Joseph has always had such good fortune that his nickname is Lucky. His luck has come in thirteens. He’s the thirteenth of his parents’ thirteen children. And both of his parents were thirteenth children. But just before his thirteenth birthday, his luck is about to change. Two mysterious visitors warn him that if he collects thirteen thirteens by midnight on his thirteenth birthday, he’ll unleash a terrible curse. And as soon as they leave, Lucky’s streak goes from good to bad.
