Diane Duane's Young Wizard books are marvelous combinations of fantasy, fast-paced adventure, and realism. As Nita crafts spells and prepares for what could be the ultimate sacrifice, you'll be pulled into her wondrous world. Christina Moore's vivid narration brings out the suspense and magic of each moment.
You can listen to Diane Duane's entire Young Wizard series.

I love this book. I admit, I am a die hard Harry Potter fan, but this book series really grabed me. I find miself buying the next volum before my next Renewal date hits...Great for kids (older than 8) and even better for us "kids at heart". Ill buy them all
If you always have a book with you...
A fantastic novel continuing the series. Christina Moore performs these books so well and keeps you captivated throughout. My kids (8&9) loved listening to this novel and are really looking forward to the next one.
The first book was so good that I ddn't want to put it down. This one was even better. The details made you imagine you were right there. I won't tell you the ending but for a while it was emotional. You become friends with the characters.
I never read the paper books so I truly have no comparison
I might compare it to the harry potter set
I can't decide who is my favorite nita or kit I love them both equally
The part where the shark took nita's place in the song was the kindest and sweetest thing that could have happened
i love storys about magic with adult humor in the storys like Piers Anthony and Orson Scott Card i also like some sci-fi storys. The storys i like best is : On a Pale Horse, The Lost Gate, Ender's Game, Split Infinity. i do not like short storys.
i liked the first book ok, but book 2 was a bit of a let down.
but then this is a kids story.
dont get me wrong i love storys about magic.
tho i do like adult humor in the storys.
i tend to like storys by Piers Anthony the most, witch i do have most of. :)
so im trying to find other magic storys i may like.
the two best storys so far are "On a Pale Horse By Piers Anthony" and "The Lost Gate By Orson Scott Card".
but Piers Anthony is my Favorite writer.
so being this is a kids story that may be why i feel it only gets a 2 star rateing from me.
This book was really slow for the first 5 hours. I kept leaving it and listening to other stories. I finally finished it and enjoyed the ending very much. I can't decide whether I want to continue the series.
I have been a Diane Duane Fan for a long time and it pains me to write a review of concern. This book, while a great story, has a thread of Suicide running through it. Although one could say that it is has a morale basis in self sacrifice, I would say that with suicide so prevalent in today's youth, themes of this nature may not be the most appropriate. Once angain let me stress thati have been a Diane Duane fan and remain so to this day. I love her work, but this one gets a "PG" rating from me.
a Tech Exec who loves the stories about what could be and what should have been. Mixed with histories told from an outside perspective.
Future past magic a not so dark precursor to mr potter that is not so parochial. Besides the setting you can tell it was written in North America vs Europe. More individualism vs linage making a person who they are.
This book is an excellent follow-up to the first book. I'm looking forward to plowing through the series; I'm very excited to have a new fantasy series to enjoy.
THese are written for YA readers, but like the Heinlein Juveniles, they don't talk down to the reader, and the kids have to make some tought decisions.
To go into any real detail would spoil the book, except to say that while the plot is great, it's the characters that really drive the book.
