Fun for All

This series has become one of my all time favorites. I would say only Potter ranks higher than this.

As a youth I was not much into reading. If I had these books when younger I would have spent far more time infront of book than the tv.

Read - Listen to them all. You will not regret it.

Good story

I listened to this story at work, and let my 12 year old daughter listen too. There is enough there for the grown-ups to not be bored and no yuck (cussing, sex...etc) for the kid...I am getting the other books in this series, thanks Audible!! <3 <3

Awesome :D

I was looking for a series both my 9 year old daughter & I could enjoy & both of us love the fairy magical realm. We found it in Artemis Fowl! Initially we were a bit worried about the darkness & the violent content but as we listened we found that Eoin tempered reality with humor & consequences that made it acceptable for us both. It has plenty of fascinating thoughtful details, imagination & humor along with sharp intellect & calculating strategy with touches of both the dark & the light. For a family who love SciFi/Fantasy/Mysteries yet are not ready for teenage topics or violence like 'The Hunger Games', 'Star Wars' etc this is a winner! Also Nathaniel Parker as narrator is extremely talented & breathes live into each individual character in such a way that they are completely real & believable. Have already bought the next 3 books!!!

Good story, Enjoyed it.

Would you consider the audio edition of Artemis Fowl to be better than the print version?

na

What other book might you compare Artemis Fowl to and why?

I guess Harry Potter, all though completely different is similar. It appeals to the same basic audience.

What about Nathaniel Parker’s performance did you like?

The voices are well separated, there is a good a sense of character in the read.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Any additional comments?

I enjoyed the different take on basic fantasy elements. Very creative writing.

Creative but Dated

This young adult novel is an entertaining romp for adults too. The author uses textbook suspense tactics to keep the listener involved. There is also plenty of explicit foreshadowing as in "but that is another story completely", making you think, hmm, how many books could there be in this series ;-)

The performance is top notch with the actor taking on different accents, and inflections of voice for narrator and for each individual character.

I prefer my fantasy set in an alternate world, but like Harry Potter, this series is bound by time. Reference to real world technology will be illustrative for listeners/readers of the future. There are also references to political turmoil in Russian. Hopefully, that particular turmoil will be outdated in the near future.

A Masterpiece of Fantasy and Science

I have loved this series for almost 6 years now. I'm happy that it is going to be made into a movie in 2019. I only hope that it is good.

Great Adventure - Poor Sound Quality

Would you try another book from Eoin Colfer and/or Nathaniel Parker?

The book is fantastic. Eoin Eolfer and Nathaniel Parker bring so much to the story. But it is too bad the sound quality of the book is so low. Was rather disappointed.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Artemis Fowl?

The best moment of this book is Butler's confrontation with the Troll, shortly after he is rejuvenated by Capt. Holly's magic. It is brilliantly read and brilliantly written

Any additional comments?

I cannot understand it. Why isnt this book presented as a series of 5 cd performances instead of the full 6 hr performance that sounds as if it were cut on a wax cylinder from 1900. Considering that there are 4 performance offerings, if this is the best presentation quality, I'm wondering if I will be disappointed as I carry on the series.
