Publisher's summary

“I can’t speak for all dogs. Not all dogs are alike. And most certainly, not all dogs have the same experiences. . . .”

Squirrel is not like most dogs. Born a stray, she must make her own way in the world, facing busy highways, changing seasons, and humans both gentle and brutal. Her life story, in her own words, is marked by loss, but also by an inspiring instinct to survive. And when it seems she will roam the woods and country roads alone forever, Squirrel makes two friends who, in very different ways, define her fate.At once heartrending and hopeful, Ann Martin’s exquisite story of a dog’s life is told with her trademark grace and insight.

Truly a Dogs life....from birth to a home

Where does A Dog's Life rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I put this at the top so far. I am new at listening to audiobooks.

What was one of the most memorable moments of A Dog's Life?

The most memorable....there were several, but I think when Squirrel aka Aidi starts to trust another person and her life really changes.

Which scene was your favorite?

Again I think there were many as I felt lilke I was on the journey too. Many different emotions are experienced inthis book!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I would have loved to. I am hoping to sit and do just that one evening.

Any additional comments?

I think this is a must listen to for anyone who is an animal lover. It gave me a new perspective on what animals may be thinking. It brought back memories of me and one of my beloved dogs. On another note it reminded me of how cruel people cam be when it comes to animals.....some set jpoor examples, yet children listening with parents could learn alot from this story.

Touching and warm

This story of a dog's journey from puppyhood to old age tugs at the heart of tender listeners. Parts of it were a bit too sad for my 10-year-old son who is an avid dog lover. That said, the tale is well-told and doesn't shy from the difficulties of life as a stray. My son, despite having sobbed when Squirrel recounts the loss of her mother and brother, daily asked to listen to the story until he was able to finish it one rainy Saturday afternoon.

A bit serious, the book is still a good choice for anyone who loves animals and who wants to encourage their children to see the world through the sees of the noble dog.

Great for young children.

This book is great for young children to listen to or read. It may make them think what a dog goes through, make them appreciate a dog more.
