Captivating but Strange Story

This book has a great storyline that grabs the reader's attention and holds it. The ending was a bit unsatisfying to me, but maybe that's because there is a sequel coming.

Another great Chtis d'Lacy book.

A great story. I found that I could anticipate some of the story, but some of it was a great surprise. I wish it was the full story, though, and didn't reduce to parts.

what i think about A Dark Inheritance

I think that this an extremely interesting book. because not only do you get to figure out what kind of powers Michael has but he does too. this lets you connect to the character. And try to figure out what he is going through. there is never any boring parts in this book it is filled with adventure and excitement. Also, the narrator is very good and is to follow. the narrator's voice is easy to understand and also goes with the book very well.

Great idea, but inexpertly told story.

The narrator takes some adjustment, because of his volume and thick accent, but after a first chapter you'll never notice it. The pace of the story is... frustrating. Things happen to advance the plot, but there are setbacks, delays, and "character development" scenes that offset what was almost a fast-paced book. There is a lot of personal strife and character friction which becomes frustrating if you just want the story to advance. Speaking of story, this is the redeeming feature of the book. The basic plot, ideas, and world-building (while not entirely original) are fascinating and exciting. The book, minus character development, is a compelling fantasy/supernatural/spy/sci-fi. however, if you begin reading, and think it boring, soppy, and annoying, you should send the book back and get the sequel. I have it on good authority that the sequels are much, much better, and I am in the process of reading on now. If you like fantasy, you'll probably make it through this book and like it. A Dark Inheritance has a couple of concepts kids under ten might not understand, but there isn't any swearing, hardly any blood, and no sexuality. That said, there are scenes that will probably scare the heck out of 'em for a night, but only if they really listen to it and think about it. Read it, or don't read it. I don't care.
