Publisher's summary

Dear Mr. S. Harris,

Ignore the blob of red in the top left corner. It's jam, not blood, though I don't think I need to tell you the difference. It wasn't your wife's jam the police found on your shoe…

Zoe has an unconventional pen pal - Mr. Stuart Harris, a Texas Death Row inmate and convicted murderer. But then again, Zoe has an unconventional story to tell. A story about how she fell for two brothers, betrayed one of them, and killed the other.

Hidden away in her backyard shed in the middle of the night with a jam sandwich in one hand and a pen in the other, Zoe gives a voice to her heart and her fears after months of silence. Mr. Harris may never respond to Zoe's letters, but at least somebody will know her story - somebody who knows what it's like to kill a person you love. Only through her unusual confession can Zoe hope to atone for her mistakes that have torn lives apart, and work to put her own life back together again.

Rising literary star Annabel Pitcher pens a captivating second audiobook, rich with her distinctive balance between humor and heart. Annabel explores the themes of first love, guilt, and grief, introducing a character with a witty voice and true emotional resonance.

amazing

This was not what I thought it would be. It had love and hate and everything. I would have loved to know Stu's side. reading letters from a young girl in Bath. Definitely a book to reread later in life.

The potantial is there

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The main character. Ok, so she fell in love with the wrong brother, but why didn't she let go of the other one? The excuses formed for her were a little shabby. Also, her reaction when that naked picture started to go around was unrealistic. And the people's reaction also. Now, it's not a pleasure of mine to see anybody get bullied, but from experience and other people's experience with high-school when something like that happens you do start to get bullied.
The characters seemed flat at times and a little stereotypical. The writing was beautiful, but the story could have used a little more intensity. The concept was not bad, but not memorable either. I've finished this book a week ago and already I can only remember the main plot. Nothing really stood out :( .

Would you be willing to try another book from Annabel Pitcher? Why or why not?

Originally, after starting Ketchup Clouds and realizing the writing was not half bad I did put "My Sister Lives on the Mantelpiece" in my wishlist. But then the story started to drag and I realized this author doesn't really have a lot to say, or she didn't say it in this book. If I ever receive one of her books as a gift I will read it, but I don't think I'll ever go and buy one for myself, maybe only if she publishes something that my friends will go crazy over. :)

What three words best describe Julie Maisey’s voice?

Cute and childish at times. Can't find a 3rd word, sorry ^^.

Do you think Ketchup Clouds needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

No, the ending was pretty much perfect, even if it was sad as well. It was a realistic ending and I don't really think I want to know what happened to them, they probably did move on at one point, or didn't. But either way, I don't care enough about the characters to read a sequel.

Any additional comments?

Despite my ranting here, this book does deserve a try. It can be pretty engaging at times and maybe some will find it more memorable than I did. Donno, but, good luck with your read if you do decide to start it :) .

Heartbreakingly Good

Heartbreaking, romantic, real and so sad. I loved how Zoe chose Stu to write to (the reasons becoming clearer as the story progresses), and how it turned out to be fairly therapeutic. Great narration as well!

Hamhill3

This book exceeded my expectations, & I will highly recommend it to anyone. My most memorable moment was when I found out Aaron was writing letters as well.

Funny, tragic, heart touching

Ketchup clouds is a captivating book and shows how love can be scary, dangerous, and memorable. I wouldn't let it fall between the cracks.

ketchup clouds

If you could sum up Ketchup Clouds in three words, what would they be?

A maz ing :)

What did you like best about this story?

I really enjoyed the concept, how you had to read it via letters Zoe wrote to Stuart on death row

What about Julie Maisey’s performance did you like?

She is my favorite narator and I quite often search for books she narrates. She is so lovely to listen to and she does the mens voices really well

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I had a few laughs and I almost cried in parts. I felt on edge and just wanted to know what happened in the end.

Any additional comments?

I got this book because I had just finished 'my sister liveson the mantelpiece', that was fabulos and so was this one! I will defiantly keep an eye out for this authors next book, her writing is wonderful and she had me hooked from the first chapter to the last.

Cute story, great performance.

I loved this book. It’s quirky, funny, and easy to listen to and connect to. Found myself laughing out loud and also feeling so sad with the main character. It’s a lighter read, and the performance of it was so so good.

Terrible narration! Disappointing ending

The narration of this was terrible. Long, drawn out pauses, slow speaking. I listened to this on 1.5x speed just to get through it.

The writing was engaging, but the story was fairly disappointing, with a very anticlimactic ending.

I'll be returning this one.
