Publisher's summary

When darkness suffocates, look for the light.

Depression and suicide cases are rising at an alarming rate, with suicide being a leading cause of death in the United States. For Christians, particularly those in vocational ministry, the stigma surrounding mental illness and mental health often creates an atmosphere of secrecy where the enemy's lies reign. But when science and religion mingle in the recovery of a believer, not only are minds stabilized but true hope is found.

Julie Busler understands the pain of mental illness and has learned that trials not only humanize us but increase our capacity to be used by God. In Joyful Sorrow, she invites us into her own journey where a mental breakdown took her from being a missionary to a suicidal patient in a Turkish psychiatric hospital. With vulnerability and grace, Julie walks us through how to find help and hope and demonstrates that even in the sorrow of mental illness, joy can coexist.

Excellent

Julie’s story is shared with beauty and grace. She openly and candidly shares about her struggles and points to Jesus all along the way. This book will be shared with many and help set captives free! The reality’s of trauma can’t be denied rather in or out of the church. But neither can the power of Jesus. This book gives a beautiful testimony of both.

Bathed in Scripture

Joyful Sorrow is an outstanding publication on so many levels. It is bathed in Scripture, Truth is spoken, not just Julie’s personal truth, but she pulls in God‘s Truth and has turned her “story“ into a message of Hope even for those who don’t realize that we are all just one breath away from being in her situation or that we have a loved one struggling with this very same war. God bless you Julie for holding tightly to the hand of our Lord and by His strength having the courage to minister to so many.
I love you my sweet Sister!!
