Narrator

It took me a minute to get sucked in, I had to get over the breathy narrator. Once you get past her breathiness the storyline is awesome!

One of the best biographies ever!

I was astounded by the detail in this biography. The descriptions of people, places and events was as if I were there in the midst of all the goings on. Josephine Baker truly was a hero and a woman among women. She stood for talent, strength , Independence and the will and passion to fight for freedom and equality! Her climb up the ladder from utter poverty and degradation to one of the most famous and respected women in the world was a lesson to us all.
The reader had an honest and authentic delivery. It was a pleasure to listen to her professionalism. I highly recommend this book.

Loved the story but this is the best Narration I’ve heard

I absolutely adored the narrator of this story, made it an easy listen. She used different voices, accents, and so much inflection and dynamics. This story was great as well, a great pair (the story and the reader).

Josephine Bakers Last Dance

Josephine’s life was poor in the beginning but she fought prejudice and hate and was able to bring a smile to her audiences. I was impressed she took the prejudice and fought for equality in life and on the stage. I loved this book I wish it could bring other people to realize we are all the same inside and outside.

What an amazing woman

Josephine Baker had an amazing life. She must have had the Divine watching over her even thought she endured such poverty and abuse as a child. I have to wonder how she managed to move forward, but she never gave up . This historical novel reveals her life and her dreams as a woman. Her story inspires me and gives me hope for humanity. We should all try to do something that improves the lives of others as Josephine Baker has done.

a Very Sexy woman described like a child.

I wanted to read about Josephine Baker. This reader tells her life like she's speaking of sex to a child. The voice she uses for Josephine is ludicrous. A very poorly written story. There are so few to choose from if you want an historical fiction this is the only one but find another way to learn about her. I'm shocked at the 4 and 1/2 star reviews.

Hated the narrator!

Good story. By chapter 10 I had to delete. Hated the narrator was not bilingual, so when she was “speaking” for someone French, it was as terrible as if I had been pretending to speak a French accent. Couldn’t stomach it anymore.
