Publisher's summary

When self-ambition becomes a horror noire, victims need vision....

Young high-school grad Imtiyaaz is eager to leave her life in Indonesia behind. She’s always coveted employment abroad, and, at last, the perfect opportunity presents, as suggested by a colleague. Rich with opportunities in the "hospitality" field, Dubai, she’s told, is a journey worth taking. An offer with a chance for hire soon follows, and, finally, Imtiyaaz is free to part with her unhappy father.

Imtiyaaz is over the moon, but it becomes clear, upon arrival, that her new station isn’t what she’d imagined. In fact, few bleaker fates undone could be fathomed under the scorching sun.

Unwittingly indentured, Imtiyaaz finds herself the "property" of a ruthless trafficking ring of criminals and captives. Identification seized, she faces an impossible decision: perform unspeakable acts...or risk her life in attempting escape. Complicit authorities will be of no help, and, without a single friend in the Middle Eastern lands, Imtiyaaz is truly alone.

Can one of many enslaved girls defy the odds and beat the heinous house?

The stuff to snap one’s heartstrings....

With an ever-growing body of work that demands real-world dissection, Eric Reese knows balance well in revealing inconvenient truths.

Truthmarked by realistic harem truths offset by this young Muslim woman's hope engender haunting beauty....

So real! a great insight to how it happens

Imtiyaaz just wanted to get out of her boring town. She was naive and wanted to make a better life for herself. These are the dreams of so many young girls. Promised the world only to be trapped with no way out in human trafficking. This story gives us an inside look at how it can happen and one of the reasons why. It is a short story, but many lessons could be learned from it.

Erin Brookes did a wonderful narration. She was able to bring out how naive Imtiyaaz is. The characters came to life and it felt like I was a fly on the wall watching the story unfold. I look forward to hearing more from Ms Brookes.

Heartbreaking but needed!!

I only put 4 stars. But not because of the story and narration. But because it is horrible that stories like this must be told and heeded.

This is the story of 1 girl that was lured into a trap of sex trafficking. And her struggle to get out. It is short but the circumstances need to be known and taught to all young girls and boys.

Mom's and Dad's!! Teach and fight against trafficking wherever you find yourself!

Human Trafficking

A very short but realistic story of human trafficking and how easy it is to be fooled by promises of a better life. The flashbacks were sometimes hard to follow but overall it was well done and held my attention from start to finish. Erin Brookes did a good job bringing this story to life. I received this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review.

Interestingly told story-just too short

The story was beautifully written about an intelligent, innocent girl who was lied to by a devious "friend". I enjoyed the way the story took us back and forth explaining how she got where she was, how her parents met, how her mother died and how she got to the EUI. The book ended rather abruptly. I say how so as not to give it away but I wished the story had continued. I wished there had been an epilogue or something that talked about how the issue of the sex slavery is being tackled to ease my mind as a listener after hearing about this horrible practice affecting thousands of women.

The narrator was very talented and believable as Imtiyaaz. She did a great job with all the unusual words and the male characters as well.

I was provided with a copy of this audio book for an honest review.

A dose of reality

A heavy topic, but a much needed one. Her father was so far down the rabbit hole of depression after losing his wife, that he did a grave injustice to his daughter! It is beyond frightening how things went down. This had a better en3than nany similar stories . I enjoyed the narrator and it added to my enjoyment of this story.

Interesting tale

I received this book for free at my request but the opinion is of my own. Very interesting read on human trafficking and how women could be lured into things by thinking they are doing something else and getting a great opportunity. I just wish the ending was a little longer what happened after this girl got home.

True story

Imtiyaaz was a young girl with ambition. She just wanted a better paying job. For three months she got more than she bargin for. This happens to many young girls I think. The performance was good however I thought the content of the book was somewhat weak.
