every parent should listen to this!

This book is for foster families and focuses on kids with trauma, but I feel like every parent can use this wonderful information to be a better parent. I am a stepmom and realized by listening to this book that my step kids have their own trauma that needs the right attention. wouldn't it be great if we realized all of our kids have their own story and honoring that is one of the greatest things we can do for them.

Highly Recommended

This is a great resource for anyone starting the adoption and foster care journey. It also could possibly provide some insight for those on the journey who need a little more help or guidance. It gave very practical advice on handling curious people, questions the child may have, what to anticipate when meeting the birth family, and much much more.

pretty good

good, but I wish they covered nuts and bolts about the adoption process itself, like legal stuff, costs, dealing with agencies, the choosing process, etc.

WOW

As an adoptive mother, I really enjoyed listening to all of the different suggestions and insight. I felt like some parts of this book were actually written about my experiences with my kids. It opened up my eyes to some things that I need to change and helped me to see that some things I do are just fine even though sometimes I don’t feel like I’m doing my best. I feel like this is something that all foster and adoptive parents should listen to at some point during their journey.
