Publisher's summary

In a stunning follow-up to her number one best seller Slander, leading conservative pundit Ann Coulter contends that liberals have been wrong on every foreign policy issue, from the fight against Communism at home and abroad, the Nixon and the Clinton presidencies, and the struggle with the Soviet empire right up to today's war on terrorism. "Liberals have a preternatural gift for always striking a position on the side of treason," says Coulter. "Everyone says liberals love America, too. No, they don't." From Truman to Kennedy to Carter to Clinton, "America has contained, appeased, and retreated, often sacrificing America's best interests and security. With the fate of the world in the balance, liberals should leave the defense of the nation to conservatives."

Reexamining the 60-year history of the Cold War and beyond - including the career of Senator Joseph McCarthy, the Whittaker Chambers-Alger Hiss affair, Ronald Reagan's challenge to Mikhail Gorbachev to "tear down this wall", the Gulf War, and our present war on terrorism - Coulter reveals how liberals have been horribly wrong in all their political analyses and policy prescriptions. She also examines how history, especially in the latter half of the twentieth century, has been written by liberals and, therefore, distorted by their perspective. Far from being irrelevant today, her clearheaded and piercing view of what we've been through informs us perfectly for challenges today and in the future.

With Slander, Ann Coulter became the most recognized and talked-about conservative intellectual of the year. Treason, in many ways an even more controversial and prescient book, will ignite impassioned political debate at one of the most crucial moments in our history.

Revisionist Review

It is facinating that the reviews I've read here confirm Ms. Coulter's contention that the only response liberals can give to a well constructed argument is name-calling. I knew when I saw them spewing about this book that it was one I *had* to read!
She is far and away the most entertaining conservative intellectual to come out since P.J.O'rourke.

Hilarious and Ominous

This really is a spectacular book. The premise is very difficult to swallow at first, but once you settle down and start listening to the immense level of detail and complex humor -obviously lost on all the poor liberals out there who prove quite readily that they can't take a joke (can they ever really?), you will be awed by the fact that Ann Coulter really can prove a hypothesis. I'm immensely grateful that she decided to be an author instead of being "just another defense attorney". Apparently she didn't allow her college professors to brainwash her...
My parents always said "Laugh and the world laughs with you. Cry, and you cry alone."
Ann Coulter takes a very loaded topic, and treats it with the lightheartedness that it requires, but she also adds in deadly seriousness as well.
America's liberal movement has been slipping toward the side of satan for well over 50 years, and my parents could only watch as I and all my siblings were programmed into mindless automotons by the pinkos in the teaching profession -just as all across the country.
By teaching me to laugh at myself, my parents did me a great service, because I am now better able to handle the unmitigated treachery of the true racists (liberals), fascists (liberals), sexists (liberals), and classists (liberals). I took myself seriously once for about 2 years when I thought my parents were just dumb old fuddy-duddies, but now that I've employed my own God-given senses, I see that they were right.
We conservaties *have to* have a great sense of humor to be able to withstand the endless barrage of insipid malarkey that comes out of the liberal noise machine.
Just remember, when you read a 1 star review on this book, you get what you pay for. Their terse remarks will be a good read if you can remember to smile about it. Their words won't bother you so much when you are comfortable with the fact that you are right in enjoying this book. Let them whine and yell. It's always good for a laugh.

A Real Eye Opener!

Finally someone who has the guts to expose the Democratic Party for what they really are, "America Haters". Every "Patriot and Public Educated person" should read this book!

Work of Art

From any point of view Ms. Coulter's facts cannot be disputed. Unfortunately, only one side is even remotely interested in facts. Also, unfortunately that side controls what goes down in the history books. As Ms. Coulter says, they control the media, universities, and history books and all we have is each other.

Listen/Read the book and decide for yourself.

Ann tells the World the Earth is Round

There was a time when the scholars of the world believe that the Earth was flat then came along a fellow who said it was round and he was mocked. In essence Ann is telling the world it is round not flat and there is an obvious backlash toward her theories against liberalism or I should say her exposing the truth. Her books are all well documented and foot noted. The fact that she has exposed the liberal lies has popped the balloon of lies the left has built itself upon. The more vicious the left is toward Ann's facts the more I'm convinced she has hit upon the truth. Listen to or read or both this great book and learn about the lies the liberals have fed our society on. A great book and a great read. The one star reviewers are obviously the kool aid drinkers of the left unable to discern fact from fiction but I do enjoy reading their most entertaining reviews.

Putting politics aside -- find the truth

I am an admitted liberal and yet I find "Treason" intriging. It would be nice if readers of this could put their political affiliation aside and see that if there are 2 such conflicting versions of history about McCarthy, we should beging asking, "what is true?" Democrats and Republicans are so busy manufacturing lies and hiding truths to win elections and make money that they are tearing our country apart in the process. The competition between "conservatives" and "liberals" has done more dammage to this country than the terrorist attacks on 9/11. Is there really any difference between them? In each election we are forced to choose between "the lesser of two evils." Is this the best we can expect from the potential leaders of the free world? Where is our Thomas Jefferson?
Readers of this book have spent so much time fighting over weather this book is true or false, right or wrong, that you have forgotten the real way to find out: Do the research. Do we want a version of history that we can agree with or the accurate version of history. McCarthy was probably not a saint, but I doubt that he was the devil incarnate either. Some of his "victims" probably were Soviet spies, but some probably were not. Let's find out the truth. Don't believe a secondary source history text and don't believe Ann Coulter -- find the truth yourself with primary source documents and draw your own conclusions. Or is that too much work for Americans?

Solid Facts and Astute Analysis

Ms. Coulter's book, "Treason" is solidly packed with well researched facts and very astute analysis. Those who dislike this book do not attack it with facts. Read the reviews of those who dislike this book and see if you can find any facts presented to refute what she has written. I found none. Her opponents appear to resort to name calling, apparently because they do not have any facts to present that refute her position. She views Joe McCarthy as a patriotic American. Most Americans who were alive during the time McCarthy was in the Senate (I was one of them) believed he was a patriotic American. Since the U.S. Government's top-secret Venona project was made public in the mid-1990's (at the insistence of Democratic Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan), there is no disputing the fact that there were a very large number of Soviet Communists spys working in U.S. Government jobs, many at very high levels, like Alger Hiss who was an assistant to a deputy Secretary of State (and who also held very high level staff jobs in the Roosevelt Administration). Most "Liberals" at the time simply refused to accept the possibility that this could be so. Anne Coulter simply points out these facts. I have read several books that document these facts, but I have not seen anyone present any facts that refute what Ms. Coulter states in her book. Senator Joseph McCarthy has been blamed for many things that he had nothing to do with. McCarthy claimed (correctly, based on the facts that the Venona project has brought to light) that there were a number of "loyalty risks" working for the Federal Government, and he asked why nothing was being done about those loyalty risks. While Ms. Coulter discusses many issues besides Joe McCarthy, most of her detractors appear to like to fall back on him as being a convenient "demon" that "everyone knows" was a bad man. For a balanced historical novel about McCarthy that also shows his human faults, read "Red Hunter" by William F. Buckley.

To All True Patriots

A must read for all true patriots. Your honorable blood will boil over the revelations contained within this work of fact, truth and justice. You will be shocked by the disgrace and the lies and the dishonor and the names of those who took upon themselves an unbreakable oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies both foreign and domestic. Those who have committed treason from within the highest ranks of the U.S. government ought to be exhumed from their graves and the remains desecrated. Those who are yet alive ought to be hung by their necks in the public square until they no longer contaminate the air with their foul breath.

Liberals simply can't handle the truth...

It's no wonder liberals are squirming around at the mention of the name Ann Coulter, she tells it like it is. I DEFY anyone to find a SINGLE nonfactual reference in Treason. It's ALL true! Liberals in this country are TRAITORS and could care less If 9-11 happened all over again. They have constantly slept with the enemy in the past and CONTINUE to do so today.

Liberals for Lunch

As usual Coulter makes a convincing case, and they simply can't stand it. Facts do bother liberals. Just listen to the arguments against her book. Can we set up another straw man to knock down? If you want to be challenged to think about what is in FACT happening, then get this book. Don't be put off by the shrill cries of reviewers who call her a liar yet cannot produce any actual evidence to dispute her research. "Liar, liar, pants on fire" may distract some from the real issues, but those who take the time to check the facts may come to the conclusion that Coulter has it right. Liberals just can't stand it.
