    "Entertaining History"

Edmund Morris has a knack for making biographies interesting. With someone like Theodore Roosevelt who is such a charismatic figure in our nation's history, he really shines. The descriptions of his trips out west made me want to head to the Dakotas to see the Badlands for myself. I really enjoyed how Morris tied together the political picture and not just the adventures of Roosevelt.
Also, the narration is fantastic, the voice of Roosevelt shines through and was used appropriately throughout the reading.
The last star is missing simply because I really wanted to have the unabridged version.

"An interesting insight into our 26th President."

The optimism and positive attitude of Theodore Roosevelt cannot go unnoticed in this book. Hearing the life and history of this man of such great tenacity was thoroughly enjoyable. My only complaint about the book was that it is the first volume of a trilogy so the listener is left hanging until obtaining Theodore Rex. Well written and easy listening.

    "History comes alive"

A masterful biography: detailed and factual, but also engaging and well written. You won't want to press stop! Very well read by the narrator as well. Even if you normally don't like history, you will like this book.

    "Inspiring and informative"

Seldom does an audiobook's narrator make himself into such a transparent conduit of the author's words. Well read, well written, this book that made Morris famous is at the top of my audio memoirs. The only real flaws come in those moments where the abridged version has eliminated material. I looked forward to a retelling of TR's Badlands outlaw posse days, but it has been completely removed from this version.

    "Great Book"

This was a fantastic book - well written, interesting, and great flow. It was obviously very well researched and gave the listener such an indepth insight into Teddy Roosevelt's life, thoughts, and actions. The reading was terrific. I was hooked on this book and listened to it whenever the opportunity presented itself.

    "Excellent piece of history"

Rush hour has never been more enjoyable. I am not a history buff, but I found myself very enthusiastic about this book. The book flowed well and was dynamically written. My interest was piqued throughout the book, which is something that does not happen that often with history books. I cannot wait for the second one.

    "Very enjoyable"

This was a very informative and enjoyable book to listen to. Very well narrated. I didn't want it to end (lucky there is a part 2)! The perspective seems fairly balanced in presenting who he was. This is highly recommended for anyone intersted in American History or even U.S. natural history.

    "Too Heroic to Believe"

If this book were written about any human other than one of our national icons, no one would believe that the characters in it were real. Roosevelt comes off like the hero in a science fiction book, not a real person.

Excellent story, well researched, ecxellent read. You cannot help wonder, what would have happened if this extraordinary man had lived today.
