Excellent Narration and Content

I was not a Civil War enthusiast until I listened to the Politically Incorrect Guide to the Civil War. I had predicated my purchase of the PIG material on prior purchases and deduced that it would be a good investment. I was so impressed with the narrative on the history of the Civil War from this audio book that I also purchased some of the author's recommended readings. Well done!

Captivating narrator who maintained my interest. Story and the impeccable research was interesting and vivid throughout and prompted critical thinking.

I tried to keep an open mind

I tried to keep an open mind, but I guess it's true. the winners get to write the history.

History you're not supposed to know

History is a funny thing in that it's written by the victors and never documents the actual facts of what and why something happened. Just like with WW2.. the American Civil War is told and retold to people nowadays from a particular angle. This book does a good job showing the how's and why's as to why the South had to defend itself from an aggressive northern army after being refused the right to leave the union. Then with the big "S" that's thrown around against the south.. it's not widely known that the north actually cared little about the big S.. it was about money. The GDP of the nation WAS the south..so leaving would not be allowed. Even if that stoppage is illegal and not backed by any legal documents of governance. Again this book does a great job pointing out all those reasons and the northern thought processes of going for the invasion. The author is attacked as a sympathizer but I say he has open eyes. Many great points not taught in school is on display here to hopefully open the readers eyes as well to hidden truths. The reviews here of 1 star are from the blind people still allowing themselves to be led to the trough.

An incredible awesome read

Refreshing look at the war of northern aggression. Love the insight to the key players on both sides.

Accurate history lesson for all Americans

This book is no doubt the most accurate and eye opening accounting of the war between the states that I have seen. All Americans, or anyone for that matter, should listen to this and understand what really happened during those years, and since. I would recommend this to anyone that wants to know the truth about the Civil War and how the South is today.

More than slightly biased

Overall, this book gives a very good picture of the Civil War. That being said, this work is terminally slanted to the southern cause. The 'Books Yankess Dont Want You to Read' segments are entertaining even if purposefully provocative. Calling Gone With the Wind 'historically accurate' is absolute lunacy. You would be hard pressed to find a more inaccurate and idealized book on life in the antebellum south. Lee is practically worshiped as semi-divine and the author sounds like he is slobbering over Lee rather than simply pointing out his virtues. This book could have been much better if it was not pushing the lost cause narrative from beginning to end.

Factual statement are made here and are correct.

As this was a free Audio book I took a chance and listened at least 15 minutes with chuckles.
it is well done with a convincing argument.
Listen to it to get what maybe was the argument of the day.

The American Civil War Made Simple

Contrary to the title's suggestion, there's very little in this title than I would rank as Politically Incorrect. I would however recommend this audiobook unreservedly to anyone with even a passing interest in America's Civil War. The book is well written, divided neatly between battles and personalities and well read.

Political correctness aside, historical fiction

I rather enjoyed the slant offered by the author for his take on history. Regardless of your political affiliation, this was a fun read as a work of fiction. It is a fiction nonetheless.
