Story
The ascension of Vladimir Putin - a former lieutenant colonel of the KGB - to the presidency of Russia in 1999 should have been a signal that the country was headed away from democracy. Yet in the intervening years - as America and the world's other leading powers have continued to appease him - Putin has grown into not only a dictator but a global threat. With his vast resources and nuclear weapons, Putin is at the center of a worldwide assault on political liberty.

Story
For more than half a century, the United States has been pursuing a grand imperial strategy with the aim of staking out the globe. Our leaders have shown themselves willing, as in the Cuban missile crisis, to follow the dream of dominance no matter how high the risks. Now the Bush administration is intensifying this process, driving us toward the final frontiers of imperial control, toward a choice between the prerogatives of power and a livable Earth.

Here is a visionary analysis of how the politics of fear, secrecy, cronyism, and blind faith have combined with the public sphere's degradation to create an environment dangerously hostile to reason. Never has there been a worse time for us to lose the capacity to face the reality of our long-term challenges, from national security to the economy, from issues of health and social welfare to the environment. As The Assault on Reason explains, we have precious little time to waste.

Story
Interventions, by Noam Chomsky, is getting new press after the Pentagon banned the book from Guantanamo Bay's prison library. Interventions is Noam Chomsky at his best. Not since his all-time best-selling title, 9/11, published in the Open Media series in 2001, have readers and listeners had a timely, short, affordable Chomsky. Unlike 9/11, Interventions is a writerly work - a series of more than 30 tightly argued essays aimed at various aspects of U.S. power and politics in the post-9/11 world. While critical of U.S. military interventions around the globe, each piece in the book is in itself an intellectual intervention.

Story
According to Michael Savage, our nation is in real trouble and the seeds of a second conflagration have been sown. Not between the states - but between true patriots who believe in our nation's founding principles and those he believes are working every day to undermine them and change the very nature of the country. Not a war of bullets and blood - but one of commitment to freedom and courage of conviction. Michael Savage is convinced that we face more than just political differences now.

Now in a work of major importance, Mearsheimer and Walt deepen and expand their argument and confront recent developments in Lebanon and Iran. They describe the remarkable level of material and diplomatic support that the United States provides to Israel and argues that this support cannot be fully explained on either strategic or moral grounds.

Story
Since 1945, the US has justified numerous wars, interventions, and military build-ups based on the pretext of the Russian Red Menace, even after the Soviet Union collapsed at the end of 1991 and Russia stopped being Red. In fact, the two biggest post-war American conflicts, the Korean and Vietnam wars, were not, as has been frequently claimed, about stopping Soviet aggression or even influence. And now the specter of a Russian Menace has been raised again in the wake of Donald Trump's victory.

Chomsky for President!!
- By steve on 05-28-10
By: Noam Chomsky, and others
Publisher's summary
Obama's presidency has suffered the fiercest opposition any administration has had and yet Mr. Obama has managed to lead the country to financial recovery, end the senseless war in Iraq, implement universal healthcare, put an end to Iran's nuclear ambitions and re-open diplomatic relations with Cuba all the while remaking US standing in the world. But Republicans believe he is the worst president the country has had. This book outlines the major successes and failures of his presidency
The Obama presidency has been marked by a number of events which might make it difficult for people outside the United States and his opponents in the country to understand the impact his administration has had in the country and across the globe.
To address this problem, this book provides a glimpse at what Obama has accomplished or failed to accomplish during his two-term presidency. The book does not however claim to provide a complete history of Obama's presidency; it does not claim to even provide a full listof the topics which are discussed herein.
This book is simply an attempt to present a snippet of his accomplishments in the face of relentless misinformation and fake news. So, without fluff or partisanship, the book looks into Obama presidency through the lenses of history.

Good balance of pros and cons
The Obama Legacy
By: Mike Ducheine
Narrated by: Kevin Theis
This is a book I received free from Autoboom and the review is voluntary. This book lays out Obama's term and gives the pros and cons of his actions. It addresses economic issues, national issues, healthcare, job market, and more. I think it's pretty fair. I would give him higher scores on some things but I am pro Obama all the way.
Narration was good!

This book claims to be unbiased, as such of course it’s biased.
This book presents itself as unbiased and neutral, however it is anything but. I do not have the inclination to list every wrong point in this book and correct it. Suffice to say if you want to hear a whitewashing of Obama’s presidency and come away thinking he tried oh so hard and everyone was against him and he still did a wonderful job and everything was Bush’s or the republicans fault, then give this a listen. You’ll feel safe and snuggly in your echo chamber.
