Disappointing

I though this was going to be a serious history book. Instead it is just a typical right wing rant that you can hear any day on trash radio. I WANT MY AUDIBLE CREDIT BACK !!

Totally Misleading Book Title

I have no idea why the author thinks this title is appropriate to the content. I believe the author has good points to tell, but definitely unrelated to why America became America. Yes of course I regretted buying & spent time on this book.

I would never listen to anything else from Larry Schweikart, for knowledge or entertainment, because his work contains neither.

What does Peter Berkrot bring to the story that you wouldn???t experience if you just read the book?

Peter Berkrot should not be penalized because of the content. He was a good performer.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Seven Events That Made America America?

He markets to racists and non-informed people. If I were the editor and I wanted to make money above morality and reality - I'd leave all the scenes in. But, if I were me, as I am, I would not have published it at all. He is not a historian; he is a sincerely biased human being calling himself a historian.

Stop. Before you buy this book, be sure it is the one for you. Read other reviews and read up on the author - and then make your decision. I wish I would have.

If you believe that the ???Boston Tea Party??? was about the government telling the citizens of the colonies which tea, they could or could not drink; or that the case of Dred Scott (1857) was the impetus for the Civil War (1861-1865) and that the founders (1776) did not really intend for slavery to be abolished; or that the events that unfolded in New Orleans and the Astrodome was the fault of the citizens???this book would then be for you.

This is not history; this is a fanatic on a mission, he spins history in hopes that readers do not even know who Dred Scott is; let alone the dates of the Civil War. He is a bigot; and no amount of drumming for a band that opened for Steppenwolf, will change that (I cannot for the life of me understand why he continually uses this as a selling point).

This author has written other books (I now know - after the shock) such as 48 Liberal Lies About American History (That You Probably Learned in School). Oh yes, he has a problem with the educational system. He also prides himself on being on ???Fox and Friends???. I really could have used that information.

In short, let me save you the time: This book is about Democrats being idiots while Republicans are smart; he also hopes you will not remember or know, that the Republican and Democratic parties switched platforms. This book and his message is that the government is bad, big business is good and non-white people are the downfall of the American dream.

How absurd???my fear is that there are people that do not know history and they will actually take this book, and incorporate it into their ???fact??? box. Please don???t. Please read unbiased history books and think for yourself.
