2008 Audie Award Finalist for Achievement in Abridgement

Edgar Award Winner, Best Fact Crime, 2008

Polls reveal that 85 percent of Americans believe there was a conspiracy behind Lee Harvey Oswald. Some even believe Oswald was entirely innocent. In this encyclopedic, absorbing audiobook, Vincent Bugliosi shows how the public has come to believe such lies about the day that changed the course of history.

Bugliosi has devoted almost 20 years of his life to this project, and is determined to show that, despite the overwhelming popular perception, Oswald killed Kennedy and acted alone.

The brilliant prosecutor of Charles Manson and the man who forged an ironclad case of circumstantial guilt around O. J. Simpson in his best-selling Outrage, Bugliosi is perhaps the only man in America capable of "prosecuting" Oswald for the murder of President Kennedy. Reclaiming History is a narrative compendium of fact, ballistic evidence, reexamination of key witnesses, and common sense. Every detail and nuance is accounted for, every conspiracy theory revealed as a fraud upon the American public.

Bugliosi's irresistible logic, relentless pursuit of the truth, and command of the evidence shed fresh light on this American nightmare, providing a new understanding of what did and did not happen in Dallas on November 22, 1963. At last we know what really happened. At last it all makes sense.

Enjoyable look at history...

Would you consider the audio edition of Reclaiming History to be better than the print version?

don't know...never read the print edition

What was the most compelling aspect of this narrative?

Bugliosi sure makes a compelling argument to discount all of the "doubters" about the assassination....

Which scene was your favorite?

nothing in particular....

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

"pay attention"...you might learn something.

Any additional comments?

really enjoyed the description of all of the events leading up to...during...and following the assassination and thru the death of oswald.....then the books pace slowed down with all of the warren reporting...etc....overall...a very good book

Did we lose logic and common sense after the assassination?

I am dumbfounded by the 75% who buy the conspiracy theories, if this was any other murder there would have been a guilty verdict in 2 weeks for Oswald. Your book should be the required reading in high school, there’s hardly a conspiracy theory stone that hasn’t been turned over, it worries me how people can be so mislead at such a high number and I’m sure most but not all are reasonable in every other way. Thank you Mr. Bugliosi for truly a book of the ages.

Pure logic

This book is so good that my only regret is that the Audible presentation is abridged and thus we don’t get all of the stellar presentation unless you read it. Still what you do get is comprehensive, logical, and unequivocally persuasive.
No one with a rational mind, can read this tome, and think anything other than Oswald was a lone misanthrope with delusions of grandeur, and not somebody stable enough to be involved in a conspiracy.

Reality

A Thoroughly researched and logical analysis of the events. A Reliance on facts and evidence not vague suspicions and hoped for drama is the backbone of the book.
I pray this book clears the names of the innocent people who have been falsely slandered through the years.
It also places the guilt squarely where it should lie, on a loser who thought he should be a big man.

Enjoyed It!

I seriously enjoyed reading this very detailed
account of the events surrounding President Kennedy's assination. This is extremely detailed
and aimed at debunking conspiracy theorists...which it does. I would urge anyone
who is interested in this topic to listen to this book. Great Job Mr. Bugliosi..loved "Helter
Skelter"...read it three times..and this one was great too.

Great Listen

I own this book, but it is quite thick and a long read. It is very clear Vincent Bugliosi invested many years and much of his time to providing concrete and factual details. I believe there was a conspiracy. I have my entire life. This is the only resource I have been exposed to that has caused me to think, "Well, could Oswald have done it alone?" Although I think there are a few weaker elements of the book (like attempts to group all conspiracy theorists under an umbrella of a few very extreme conspiracy beliefs, and failing to include other alternative theories involving some groups, such as the mob), I found this to be very informative, educational, and entertaining.

The first section of the book serves as more of a story (released after the fact as Four Days in November), and the rest is well-supported and cited information about the case, from the autopsy, to the Warren Commission, to conspiracy theories.

Covers every detail

For anyone who is familiar with Bugliosi's writing, you'll know that he does a very thorough job and covers every minute detail. That is definitely true of this book also. He goes into great detail on the Kennedy assassination, from every possible angle.
If you are interested in the subject I'd highly recommend this book because it covers so much territory. He definitely has an opinion on the conspiracy theories that are associated with the case too, and isn't afraid to shoot them down.
