Interesting Story but the Audiobook Falls Short

A very interesting story that I had no idea about even as a pretty big history buff. Truly a shame that it isn’t more widely known.

That said, this specific recording leaves much to be desired. That audio quality is poor, the volume fluctuates, and for some reason, that isn’t really clear, there are two narrators that jump in and out throughout the reading (maybe one narrator is reading the unabridged sections that were recorded after the fact?).

The reality is that I probably wouldn’t have stuck it out if I wasn’t captivated by the story and was desperate to learn more after first hearing about it. And, like I said, that’s a shame because it’s a great true story that deserves to be more widespread, but this book could use an update with modern recording quality and better narration.

It's too bad more business leaders don't display the employee loyalty told about in this book. A truely great man and one I would love to work for.

Fantastic true story!

Where does On Wings of Eagles rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

One of the best non-fiction reads.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Ross Perot because of his choices and values.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

This has to be one of the worst performed books do to the changing readers and the reading speed. Many times it is almost unintelligible.

Any additional comments?

Don't let all the comments about how poor the performance quality is keep you from listening to this book. While they are all true the story is worth the extra effort to listen.

Gripping

I loved this. I loved that they used different narrators. I loved the story. I loved this book.

Interesting Story - Audio Gave me Anxiety

Would you try another book from Ken Follett and/or the narrators?

The narrators needed to slow down. They spoke so fast in parts it gave me anxiety.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I have a new respect for Ross Perot after this book. I think he would have been a great leader of our country.

What didn’t you like about the narrators’s performance?

Too fast

Would you listen to On Wings of Eagles again? Why?

Eventhough the narrator talks to fast this story is worth hearing and remembering. Simons, Perot, and EDS are heroes and best of all proud Americans! Great story!! And best of all...it's true!!!

Who knew…..

I think the saying goes, you just can’t make this stuff up. What an amazing story and the emblematic example of teamwork.

Interesting story, some issues

The story is amazing and true, once I overcame the other issues it was good.
Hint- put the audio speed at 0.8x; otherwise this is way too fast to follow while driving or trying to do anything else.
I also struggled with the vast cast of characters and places, many unfamiliar. Not sure what to do about this, you do get acclimated and eventually learn the names, people, places, but not my preference for audio books. Too easy to get lost in a complex story (which this is).

I worked at EDS and was privileged to know one of these brave men. Amazing story!
