Publisher's summary

Rock legend, best-selling author, reality television star, accomplished entrepreneur, and renowned ladies' man Gene Simmons presents Ladies of the Night, an informative and entertaining mix of narrative history and Simmons' own unique philosophy about the inception and legacy of the oldest profession in the world.

From the very first cavewoman, to the brothel-women of Rome; from the geishas of Japan, to the courtesans of Europe's Renaissance period; from the saloon-ladies of the Wild West to today's modern madams and high-end call girls, Gene covers it all. At once audacious and enlightening, Ladies of the Night is an entirely new take on a traditionally taboo topic and promises to spark debate.

Ho Hum

Frankly a little disappointed. Author seems to have a chip on his shoulder about the subject. Also the narration is flat and uninspiring. Overall okay in that there were some factually interesting points but if I could do it over, I wouldn`t buy it again.

Fascinating

This is an extraordinary account of the history of what I thought was ordinary. I was unaware of much of what goes on in the world and for example went straight to my computer to look up Amsterdam and it window women. It is nothing less than a closer look at history, motivations and the world of people. The last chapter was particularly enlightening!
