Yes but only if James DiEugenio did NOT try and act out all the different characters in the book. He's terrible at this. Perhaps it wasn't his idea because when he is simply narrating the book is GREAT. As soon as he is made to act, the whole book falls apart.
It's the first book to cast a light on the inciting events of the past that led to Kennedy's untimely end.
James DiEugenio should NOT act out various roles. It destroyed the book for me. It's distracting, annoying and ultimately just plain bad.
The book is great. But why the director or actor decided to try vocal characterizations is beyond me. Could no one hear how distracting this was when they played back a take?
Audio books don't need a lot of voice acting. The readers natural voice should be more than enough.
The content, very well laid out and considered.
Anyone who does a better Kennedy impression than this guy, the really super awkward voices were jarring. For basic narration he was fine.
23 hours is kind of long to listen to anything in one sitting :-)
Filled with information that doesn't often get attention in the mainstream media.
It's my first book by this author, so... moot point.
Most annoying is his apparent need to do an accent or voice impression for every figure or character in the book. His accents are terrible, his JFK impression is laughably, cartoonishly bad. For some reason reason, he decides to give Jim Garrison a heavy, HEAVY Southern accent he didn't have in real life.
And although he generally speaks well and has a nice voice (when he's not doing those terrible accents, anyway), he routinely mispronounces names and common words. It's jarring.
