Publisher's Summary

The must-have companion to Bill O'Reilly's historical docudrama Legends and Lies: The Patriots, an exciting and eye-opening look at the Revolutionary War through the lives of its leaders

The American Revolution was neither inevitable nor a unanimous cause. It pitted neighbors against each other as loyalists and colonial rebels faced off for their lives and futures. These were the times that tried men's souls: No one was on stable ground, and few could be trusted.

Through the fascinating tales of the first Americans, Legends and Lies: The Patriots reveals the contentious arguments that turned friends into foes and the country into a war zone. From the riots over a child's murder that led to the Boston Massacre to the suspicious return of Ben Franklin, the "First American"; from the Continental Army's first victory under George Washington's leadership to the little-known Southern guerilla campaign of "Swamp Fox" Francis Marion and the celebration of America's first Christmas, The Patriots recreates the amazing combination of resourcefulness, perseverance, strategy, and luck that led to this country's creation.

Told in the same fast-paced, immersive narrative as the first Legends and Lies, The Patriots is an irresistible, adventure-packed journey back into one of the most storied moments of our nation's rich history.

Introduction read by Bill O'Reilly.

"Another winner for Bill O'Reilly Legends and Lies series"

David Fisher and Bill O'Reilly did a great job covering The Patriots it was engageing and very informative. The only issue I had was Holter Graham reading of it, at times he didn't sound believing or trying to hard a little grating on my mind but other times he would do it justice with the different voices or dialects that were used. Can't wait to watch the TV version of the book.

"The Patriots Should Be Required Reading"

Public schools would do well to incorporate The Patriots into their history curriculum. Well written, inspiring and future generations can get a real grasp how lucky they are to live in the land of the free and home of the brave.

    "Couldn't stop listening!"
Where does Bill O'Reilly's Legends and Lies: The Patriots rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It is the best history book we have heard on audiobooks. We are both history buffs and my husband and I didn't want to stop listening to it.

    "Can't finish"

The writing is Not on the same level as the "Killing ..." series. Boring. This narrator makes it four times worse. I have never written a review on audiobooks. But can't recommend this by any means. Will not finish this one.
