Publisher's summary

Easy Company, 506th Airborne Division, U.S. Army, was as good a rifle company as any in the world. From their rigorous training in Georgia in 1942 to D-Day and victory, Ambrose tells the story of this remarkable company, which kept getting the tough assignments. Easy Company was responsible for everything from parachuting into France early D-Day morning to the capture of Hitler's Eagle's Nest at Berchtesgaden.

Band of Brothers is the account of the men of this remarkable unit who fought, went hungry, froze, and died, a company that took 150 percent casualities and considered the Purple Heart a badge of office. Drawing on hours of interviews with survivors as well as the soldiers' journals and letters, Stephen Ambrose tell the stories - often in the men's own words - of these American hereoes.

( San Francisco Chronicle)
"As a member of just such a unit...I am impressed by how well Mr. Ambrose has captured the true essence of a combat rifle company." (The New York Times Book Review)
"A valuable and fascinating record....In these pages, the reader can vicariously walk with the men of E Company, suffer and laugh with them." (The Times-Picayune)

Narrator is trash

It is a minor irritant, however the way the narrator over pronounced the foreign city names while getting the soldiers names wrong became like nails in a chalkboard.

Outstanding

I had heard about this book a long time ago and finally got around to it. This is an amazing story about men that fought their way through Europe. There is a reason this was selected to make a series about, and the Commandant of the Marine Corps recommends all Marines read it. I would recommend this book to anyone and will likely revisit it later.

outstanding book. best I've read in a long time.

Absolutely loved it! Narrator was excellent especially when "imitating" the soldiers' narrative. I would recommend this to everyone!

excellent

I absolutely love this book. The voice performance is very good, although as far as I can tell there were a few mispronunciations. Of course these mispronunciations might be due to an Americanized way of talking. all around this is an amazing book, I've always been a fan of Ambrose, and this just made it even better I recommend this book for anyone interested in World War 2, and also as a starter for anyone looking to learn about what real leadership courage and endurance looks like.

Very moving

Stephen Ambrose captures the heroism of these brave men. They deserve all the glory and recognition given to them. Most of Europe would be speaking German today if it weren't for sacrifice of so many American soldiers.

Mispronounced words/names

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, but only if you can handle words being mispronounced throughout the entire book. The same words continuously.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Band of Brothers?

The end of the book, when the author is telling you about the soldiers after the war, always gets me choked up. Makes me think of my grandfather and what he must have went through upon returning from Germany.

Did Tim Jerome do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

He could have done much better. Bastogne, Guarnere and Toye are repeatedly mispronounced, making it extremely difficult to listen to.
