Publisher's summary

Something akin to peace has come to the Underdark. The demon hordes have receded, and now the matron mothers argue over the fate of Drizzt Do'Urden. Even so, it becomes clear to one matriarch after another that while the renegade drow may come and go, Menzoberranzan, the City of Spiders, will crawl forever on.

And so Drizzt is free to return to his home on the surface once again. Scores are settled as lives are cut short, yet other lives move on. For the lone drow, there is only a single final quest: a search for peace, for family, for home - for the future.

Hero picks up where Maestro left off, in a sweeping climax to an epic tale.

Wow... that was a ride!

I am along time fan of R A Salvatore and his forgotten Realms books. This one is one of my favourites. It's a collection of just rewards and just deserves mixed with a collection of WTFs!

It closed so many loops but open up a whole new set leaving me both satisfied for the ending and anticipatory for what's next. Basically exactly what you want for a completion of a series.

I must say that I was losing faith in Salvatore ability to present a beginning a middle and a climatic arc in a single trilogy with his most recent series always seeming to open more questions then solve them. This was a total return to his earlier works with Drizzt and Co taking me back 20 years and the times I would not put down a book until read cover to cover in an all nighter. I have not been more satisfied with and ending in a long time.

Thanks Bob!!!

One of his Darkest and best

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, it is gripping, emotional and satisfying.

What other book might you compare Hero to and why?

Not really sure, this Drizzt book was quite different then the rest because of what was going on with Drizzt.

Which character – as performed by Victor Bevine – was your favorite?

Jarlaxle I think is portrayed almost exactly how I have imagined him to be portrayed for years of reading.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed for sure and there were a few times where tears definitely starting to form.

Any additional comments?

If you're a fan of the series and up to date, get this book. If you've never delved into The Legend of Drizzt, start the beginning. R.a. Only improves with each book until the series has become legendary.

Incredible!

What a great book. A little slow at first but the end is amazing. Victor nailed it again with the narrating.

Thank you! Simply dynamic!

The best in the series since the beginning! Longtime fan and patient follower of the dark elf series. Nicely done and intertwined character development. I have watched these characters grow for a very, very long time. The happy ending leaves me nervous though, lol! Amazing storytelling!

Superb way to wrap things up.Hopefully not the end

Just finished this up, wow very well done including nearly everyone. I've heard rumors this could be the end or at least a long break for Drizzt. If this is the case what a send off.

Monks & Druids FTW

With 'Hero' we are presented with a great and somewhat strange tale of absolute lowpoints eventually being replaced by a glorious highpoint.
All while showing of why Druids and Monks are the best D&D-classes ever!
"I don't need a horse..."
A statement for the ages!
