Publisher's summary

A January 2023 Once Upon a Book Club Pick

“You’ll get nothing done until you’ve reached the end of this excellent book.” ―Lisa Regan, USA Today and WSJ bestselling author of the Detective Josie Quinn series

“[A] riveting tale . . .” ―Library Journal

She wanted the truth. She should have known better.

When her sister is found dead in a Baltimore hotel room, reporter Val Ritter’s world is turned upside down. An empty pill bottle at the scene leads the police to believe the cause of death is suicide. With little more than her own conviction, Val teams up with Terry Martin, a retired detective who has his own personal interest in the case, to prove that something more sinister is possible.

In 1921, Bridget Wallace, a guest on the brink of womanhood, is getting ready to marry an eligible older man. But what seems like a comfortable match soon takes a dark turn. Does the illustrious history of the stately Franklin hotel hide another, lesser-known history of death?

Excellent Dual Storyline!!

I was quickly sucked into both storylines and each one left me wanting more as K.L. Murphy switched back and forth from the 1921 story and current day story. I listened to My Sisters Death driving from Va to West Va and did not turn it off. I was so much into the book that I found myself switching to my ear pods as I stopped for gas and to eat.

I would recommend this audio book to everyone. Warning!- will be difficult to stop once you start.

The ghastliness

I love the way the story was built. Layer upon layer. You kind of knew what was coming next but not really.

Addicting

I listened to this all at one time. I simply could not stop. I love audiobooks because you can accomplish so many tasks while listening. This book had me looking for things to do so I could continue listening to it. It hooked me from the beginning.

Spousal abuse

I thought there were too many incidents involving spousal abuse and to me they were too graphic.
