Publisher's summary

A strong, resilient woman who learned to survive in a world of betrayal

Emma Cadbury had been an innocent, a whore, a charity worker, and a surgeon. She chose a life without love until she saved a dying soldier in a charity ward.

A scarred soldier who fought to redeem himself from the horrors he’d committed

Brandon Rohan had lost himself to drugs and degradation, wanting to die, and only one person could save him. But she’d disappeared.

A love neither of them wants and a passion so strong it could burn down the world

Now they’ve come together again, but he doesn’t remember, and she doesn’t want to. But someone is trying to kill her, and Brandon is the one man who can save her.

5th House of Rohan 💜

Well, I’m sad that as of this moment, I’ve finished the House of Rohan. 😭😭 I hope theres another one soon! And that SE narrates it! I have absolutely loved this entire series, and this was no exception. However, it was my least favorite. I mean, I loved Emma and Brandon, and everyone else, but I just didn't like how long it took the two of them to actually get together. Though... when they finally did “get together” it was pretty palpable!
SE, as always, did a gosh darn phenomenal job narrating!! Omg she completely created a visual character for Noonan! Lol

Definitely worth a whole credit.

Anne Stuart does it again!

The Rohans series really had my interest in Ms Stuart. Extreme suspense coupled with correct historical references ending in romance. More please - future Rohan’s!

Heartless … and also heat-less

This was a too aptly named book as Emma and Brandon were needlessly cruel to each other. Of course, before the cruelty there’s what felt like a seven hour prologue of Emma’s pity party because Brandon doesn’t remember her. Yes, seven hours of him being charmed by Emma, even if he’s puzzled by his fascination with her. Seven hours where not a whole lot happens except for the supposedly smart Emma being clueless as to her peril. It was a dull slog, particularly given the rest of this series, which is dedicated to dark doms, soiled doves and tawdry, sizzling sex scenes.

Then, when he recovers his memory, he doesn’t confront her, but instead lashes out with cruelty … which she takes, because she also isn’t adult enough to communicate. She lets herself be used and martyred, and then flees like a coward, repeatedly. It was aggravating and depressing and drawn out.
The two sex scenes died amid the cutting taunts and abject failure of either of them to clear the air.
