The New York Times best-selling author of The Hormone Cure and The Hormone Reset Diet shows every woman how to create a lifestyle that will help her look great, feel energized, and slow down the effects of aging.
Feel destined for cellulite, saddle bags, and belly fat? Does your family come from a long line of Alzheimer's, cancer, or heart disease? Will nothing help your aging skin or declining libido or flagging energy? This book is for you.
The body is magnificent, but it doesn't come with a lifetime warranty or an operating manual. You're the result of millions of years of evolution, but many of the adaptations that helped your ancestors survive are now working overtime to accelerate the aging process. The assumption here is that we are our genes and therefore trapped by the past. The good news is that your genetic code - the DNA sequence that is the biochemical basis of heredity - can play a minor role in the way you age.
The scientific reality is that 90 percent of the signs of aging and disease are caused by lifestyle choices, not your genes. In other words you have the capability to overcome and transform your genetic history and tendencies. Harvard/MIT-trained physician Sara Gottfried, MD, has created a revolutionary seven-week program that empowers us to make the critical choices necessary to not just look young but also feel young.
Dr. Gottfried identifies and builds this book around the five key factors that lead to accelerated aging: the muscle factor, the brain factor, the hormone factor, the gut factor, and the toxic fat factor. The seven-week program addresses these factors and treats them in an accessible and highly practical protocol, as follows:
Younger increases not only your life span but also your health span. Dr. Gottfried's program makes it possible to change the way you age, stay younger longer, and remain healthy and vibrant for all of your days.

Say something about yourself!
I'm not sure why someone with a podcast wouldn't narrate their own book. The narrator that was selected sounds like she's trying to be sexy. Nope. It has made it difficult to listen to.
Content is great though - really excited to see the results of these changes to my lifestyle. I like having some of the science behind the concepts, and two paths through, one more basic and one more advanced. I plan to go basic for a while and then amp it up later since I'm at the low end of the age spectrum that I believe this book is for. I've read her other two books, and this is my favorite, as it seems easier for me to see how to tailor the protocol to fit my needs.
This book is wonderful! Full of great information and easy ways to make a change for better health. I will be gifting it to my mothers and sisters, for sure.
The narrator on the audible version is annoying to listen to though. She was articulate, but sounded annoying and outdated.
First of all, the narrator'a voice grates on my nerves. And not just the voice, but the intonation and inflection. Sometimes robotic, sometimes patronizing...it's hard to explain.
While the content of the book is good, I haven't listened to enough of it to comment on it. However, I did purchase a hardcopy, because the author lays out a lifestyle plan and, in order to implement it, the book needs to be referenced from time to time. Additionally having a hard copy will allow me to make notes, also for reference.
I usually get a lot out of Dr. Sara's books, newsletters, podcast, etc. I don't know if it was the narrator or what, but I found this really difficult to listen to. Ugh :-( Really wanted to like this book but I am literally forcing myself to finish it, just because I paid for it. I'm hoping something else catches my ear before the end of the book.
I know she's super busy, but maybe narrate herself? Be more relatable? Give me something practical, maybe less preachy? Tanya made me feel like there is danger everywhere I turn. Tanya's delivery, although not at all similar, somehow reminds me of Rosie, the Jetson's robot maid. (Sigh)
Ugh. Sorry Tanya. Never again.
Most of this I'd heard before, minus the detailed science. Sometimes less is more.
Sara is so knowledgeable and full of excellent guidance. I'm so grateful for coming across this book and taking the time to listen to it.

I was shocked several times at the toxins lurking in the products we use.
