Absolutely lifechanging


This is the book I wish my parents and so many people of my family had. It is mind boggling the fact that food and lifestyle choices are both the cause and the solution to 95% of the health problems we face in this century. It was about time this book was written. Don’t say no to a life time of optimal health. I devoured it in 3 days.

Corny Title - Great Book!

I'm not usually into Naturopathic ideas, but I really enjoyed this book. The author does a great job explaining how what we put in our bodies affects us. I bought the book after listening to the free sample. I was impressed and the book did not disappoint.

I appreciate the included companion guide!

There was a lot a great information here. It may have been better to purchase a hard copy of this one. But it comes with a download of the companion guide, which is a great tool.

Fantastic book that gets technical yet stays approachable

I read a lot of books like this, dr Hyman definitely gave deeper insight into how many different mechanisms play out together and this book is never short on explaining how each mechanism works in detail with proofs. He still summarized everything well and this book comes with enough assessments to make this easy for people.
I strongly recommend it

pretty hard to listen to in the car

found found myself wanting to pull over and take notes while driving however no doubt I will listen to this again and again to gain further notes and further insights highly recommended

Life Changing

For those of us who know we need, must make healthier choices in life, but don’t know the how, what, why or where of how to do it. Excellent book. I’ve recommended it to all of my friends and have begun my six week Ultamind Solution diet and supplements. Feeling better already!

Possibly dated, but still relevant

Everything. The diet tips, lifestyle hacks, and breakdown of the epidemic of broken brains.

What did you like best about this story?

The ADHD / autism controversy always piques my interest, so I'll go with that.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

"The secret life of sardines"

This book offers an actual course of action for dealing with anxiety, depression and otherwise. Although the caffeine and nicotine elimination seems like a massive undertaking, I appreciated the advice he provided for coping with the aftermath.

Although this book is complex and covers a heap of territory, it's outshined by his newer books The Blood Sugar Solution and Eat Fat, Get Thin. His diet tips have evolved along with others', and some of the information in The Ultramind Solution could be considered outdated.

Overwhelming To Do List

This book is long list of things to do to be healthy, which is really overwhelming. I appreciate that there is a companion guide to use later. As for listening to this audiobook, it took a long time to complete, and I found it difficult to discern one or two key points or takeaways.

Literally saved my life

I always thought I was the one who was broken.
That it was my weakness of character, spirit, however you want to call it.
But finding out about functional medicine and the causes and symptoms of a broken brain-body made me realize it was not me, but my broken brain-body. My guilt dissipated and I achieved a strange internal peace and motivation to eat right, exercise, sleep, and relax, because I finally fully internalized and understood in the flesh that health is everything. That taking care of the brain-body is taking care of the soul. That my depression and anxiety are not because a weakness of character of mine, just like a cough is not from such. Even when I feel physically/mentally ill, deep down I maintain the strange peace that this book gave me: that it is not my fault, and that I can take concrete steps to heal myself and forcefully start a positive feedback loop through physical well-being straight to mental wellness and back to physical well-being

This book combined with learning I am possibly a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP: someone whose nervous system is more easily frazzled but also more perceptive) has given me a massive push forwards towards self-discovery and self-love

Going from thinking I am morally broken and flawed to thinking I am merely different and necessary in my own way

I now pay attention to my body-brain's needs
and I listen when it tells me to stop
