Author T. Colin Campbell, the study's project director, provides an intelligent, well-documented analysis of the study's results, an analysis that explodes the most common American dietary myths. In addressing the dietary sources of the most common diseases, including cancer, Campbell unleashes a no-holds-barred attack on the commercial interests that profit by selling the American public unhealthy food. He also shows how readers can use the study's results to change their diets and improve their health.

"[These] findings from the most comprehensive large study ever undertaken of the relationship between diet and the risk of developing disease are challenging much of American dietary dogma." (The New York Times)
"Reflects the profound changes that industrialization is bringing to diet and disease patterns in China, statistics that have had an impact on reevaluating dietary policy in the United States and worldwide." (The Washington Post)
This book has changed how I eat from now on! If everyone knew the information in this book there would be a domino effect of change.
The China study is simple to understand and extremely profound. The information here images so much sense, if you watch only an hour of tv a day you've seen the drug commercials and all the side affects they can cause. Following this lifestyle can and will change your health permanently with no side affects except feeling good.
This is powerful if true. The author discredits one of his own studies from 1982, saying that it had erroneous assumptions. Naturally, that begs the question about what to trust, in any study. He discredits the well-known Nurses nutrition study, sigh. It is maddening trying to figure out what is credible and to make informed choices. Well written with a reasonable amount of self congratulations.....not too much or too little.
my nephew who just got out of prison after 17 years came out a vegan and a change man. He recommended this book i now understand why it has affected him so and now me and perhaps many more to come!
The books explains very clearly what in your plate is killing you. The facts given are enlightening and life-changing.
TL;DR: Eat a whole food plant-based diet = survive.
I completely changed my diet from relying heavily on animal based food to an exclusive plant-based diet.
I grew up in Texas, and meat has always held a special place in my heart. I have also been a recreational lifter for the better part part of 18 years, so protein supplementation has always been a part of my dietary regimen.
Last year my wife and I made the transition to a more plant based diet, but we still enjoyed lean poultry and sushi on a weekly basis.
Our health has never been in question, but this slight dietary change did produce noticeable improvements.
After reading the China Study, we've decided to go full vegetarian. I can't imagine suffering due to chronic illness, and I am not going to play Russian Roulette with my food. Mother Nature's pharmacy is where I'll be getting my medicine from now on.
Loved it! I wanted to know more as I was listening to The China Study... I loved the passion this book was written with. Truthful with research to back up the info. Do you want to live a happy, healthy life? Then read The China Study.
I work in the medical field and see the ravages of disease. Nutrition and health is not taught in our society. This has been an education of life changing proportions. It's a simple, inexpensive and effective way of health that can be practiced lifelong. I will use and share this for the rest of my life. Thank you!
