    "I liked it!"

    I liked Tom`s new book. It's really nothing new, but it takes a lot of info and puts it in one book. I read Tom's Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle and loved it. I would recommend that book as your training manual. BFFM realy gets behind the science of weight loss and weight training. This new book is more of the mental attitude guide for getting a lean muscular body and "keeping it that way for life." I like the fact that Tom explains the # 1 thing is calorie management, plain and simple. He does go on to say that you can eat whatever you want occasionally, but in moderation. And you must be aware of the calories the food contains. Hey, on a few occasions I'm still going to eat pizza and drink beer, but I'm not going to eat the whole pizza and finish off a 6 pack like I used to. Another good point is to not feel guilty about it. Afterwards, get back to being strict on your meals.

    Tom reads the intro to this book, and I wish he had read the whole book. Nothing is really wrong with the narrator, I just seem to feel like "TOM" is speaking directly to me when I hear him reading.

    This is an excellent way to go about dieting and your health. No lose weight fast or gimmick diets. Just the facts. And it works!!!

    "Fantastic book"

    This book is very comprehensive and quite informative. I really enjoyed this book. I have read many books on fitness and diet, this may be the best I have read. Highly reccomend.

    Venuto brings nothing new to the table. He merely repeats the basic tenets of successful weight loss. Very disappointing. May be ideally suited for someone who know nothing about weight loss, and needs motivation to initiate a lifestyle change.

    "not what it seems"

    This is a long book that isn't what the title leads you to believe. The majority of this books time is spent telling you how everyone else has failed and not how to make the changes to succeed. It seems that by trying to compair so many other "body fat" solutions you really don't know what the solution is. I really feel if the author would have simply taken his time to write about his solution it would have been a more interesting read and perhaps something you could actually follow. This is not a memorable book and not something I would suggest.

    "Great book for every(body)"
    Would you listen to The Body Fat Solution again? Why?

    I probably wouldn't listen to it again, I have the concept and the understanding I needed, and it will serve me for a lifetime. I am in good shape, I'm 52 and have always exercised regularly. I hear family and neighbors spout off about some 'certain' diet, bla bla bla, but have never heard an explanation like this, one that makes sense to me and will always be in vogue. Stop eating so much. That's it. Don't deny yourself anything, just keep it to a good portion. Start doing weight workouts (I do about 5-7/ week now). I never knew how important it was until I read this book. Without trying at all I dropped about ten pounds in two months and feel good all the time. I eat carbs, I eat cookies, I eat hamburgers, I drink beer. But not too much of any of it. It really changed my life.

    "Old Uncle Ned's Fitness Advice?"

    I couldn't listen a minute without thinking that I was being lectured by my high school science teacher or my annoying Uncle Ned. I had to remind myself every 5 minutes that I was getting advice from a fit youngish trainer to keep from shutting it off.

    The first half of the book basically tells you to get your mind right, the second half gives you tips on eating and exercising. What he says is good and practical. Not alot of new information. But in all honesty. Science is the same and our body's are too. We can only be told the same story so many times before we just have to take it for what it is and just do it. I can definitely see how putting his ideas into application would get me to my goal.

    What made the experience of listening to The Body Fat Solution the most enjoyable?

    This book was not kooky and it did not lean too heavily on one culprit as being the cause of obesity. The author went back to the basics.


    What did you like best about this story?

    Diet books always have a hook. They'll focus on one thing like: insulin control, mind control, eliminating certain food groups, or eating at specific times.This book contends that there is no new "magic bullet" for weight loss. It is by far the most reasonable diet/exercise book that I've read. Venuto reiterates simple ideas that dieters already know, but need to hear again.


    Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

    I have fallen for diet plans that say carbs, sugar, emotions, the hormones insulin, ghrelin, and leptin, or wheat products are the sole contributors to weight gain. Many of these books were written by doctors. Tom Venuto believes that all of these things are a piece of the puzzle, and he prescribes calorie restriction and challenging workouts as an antidote. It's not new, exciting news, but the reader will know immediately that this guy got it right.

    "Most Realistic Fitness Read"
    Where does The Body Fat Solution rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

    One of the top 5. Appreciated that he took the time to read the Intro. The reader for the bulk of the book did well...nice tone and intonation.


    What was one of the most memorable moments of The Body Fat Solution?

    Tom's no nonsense but encouraging introduction.


    Which scene was your favorite?

    This is non-fiction. I especially like Tom's goal setting process.


    If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

    Realistic fitness lifestyle changes for anyone, any age any shape.


    Any additional comments?

    Tom backs up his publications with a fitness community website that has helped hundreds/thousands of people get in better shape. He personally takes the time to answer questions and gets involved with members on the online forums. He likes to give kudos to those who succeed. (There are fitness contests throughout the year). I hope he writes a book geared more for those who have to lose 100 lbs or more. He has some sound goal setting strategies, but it would help even more if there was a strategy set out especially for the most struggling crowd.
